Pete's Baldy

We anchored on a lump in about 45m and sent out a burley bomb, within about 20mins Pete pulled in two Baldies and a Dhuie in successive drops. Meanwhile I cauhght a bloody scorpion cod.

There are a few guys that specialise in them down here, I'm not one of them though.
I rarely catch baldies, maybe its something to do with the size of my hooks, I dunno.

I don't know what it is, but we rarely catch them. Maybe 10 a year if I am lucky. I think it has something to do with the type of ground I fish. Perhaps I should specialise a little more as they are supurb on the plate.

They sure are, but they aren't the biggest fish in the ocean, probably why I never bothered to target them.. they're just an incidental catch for me too.
Only offer good sport when fishing for them in shallow water and off the rocks with light tackle.

drag ya out to one of my spots, if ya not catching baldies there are big queenies dhuies, we also been getting big flathead before the coral too.
if the fish aint there it will be full of sharks!!

Baldy for sure!
Yeh baldchin are my favourite fish to eat and good fighters on lightish gear too!
They can be plentiful if you hit the right grounds and the right side of the moon, further north also helps out!
Went out Sat and got a nice 13kg dhufish and some big offshore pink snapper and big KG's....next weeks trip is to fish baldy spots, the photo's got me hungry now!

40m and deeper for me!

Tapout, I'm getting them to 10kg's but the last few trips we've been getting them 5-8kg's and I've kept a few to eat, very nice!
I've got pic's but I'm using them for an article so no can re posting them on the sites!
Chasin bigger pinks, try shallow lumps holding fish and anchor up (sundown or sunup being better times) Berley up and wait, if no luck move on to another likely spot/lumps etc!

Cheers mate, thanks for the info. The more advise I can get on chasing snapper the better.Ive been doing ok catching them lately but I think its more pot luck than skill.So I need to work out how to target them and where to look.
