Little morning bash in the Pilbara
Well jay and i decided to do something other than go Barra fishing this morning. Actually it started yesterday afternoon with a little crab collecting session out the back of wickham near point samson. We decided to try our luck on one of the many islands surrounding the area for some bluebone. The tides were quite big and we estimated that we would not be able to get the boat in until around 9am or gentleman's hours. Our predictions were slightly out because when we got to the ramp there was not water.
where is the water
We had a bit of a look around the rocks and decided on what our strategy was too be. Originally we were going to try get a few crays and throw some soft plastics around. Catching a bluebone would just be a bonus or something else to do other than snorkel.
Still waiting
We got out to one of the little islands we were planning to fish and decided to jump in with the spear gun for a look. Saw a few trout but the Vis was pretty crap and the tide was ripping in so we opted for a swim instead.
After a while i figured i might as well get out and have a try at some bluebone, i had seen a few monsters just out of range while snorkeling. I baited up and got a line in. Straight away i got a hit and pulled in a juvenile bluebone of around 25cm, a good sign. After another few baits i got absolutely buried into the reef and i was starting to feel confident.
Some would say a waste
Next drop i hooked up again and held on for dear god. Jay was still of snorkeling, i could really have used his help, i was pissing myself laughing as i almost went over the side. After a hefty battle i got my PB Bluebone boat side and pulled him in over the transom, stoked!
My PB Bluebone
Jay came over pretty excited and decided to have a crack as well. We both got buried into the reef about another 4 or 5 times and i actually almost got one just as big if not bigger boat side before it got round the prop. Jay had a bluebone peel his 50pound braid of his stella with its drag set as tight as it would go like it was a whiting combo. Was estimated to be a blood monster. He did land some smaller blue's and a couple of nice cod as well.

We realised we should have concentrated on the blue's for the fast running flood, when the water slowed down things went very quiet. We went for another swim and i grabbed a nice cray for the mrs for dinner before heading home. After revising our techniques we realised what we could do to improve our catch next time. Perhaps tomorrow.
Thanks again jay, hope you had some fun mate
Cheers PB

Crab collecting
I was envisaging a small live rock crab on the hook, not a muddy claw the size of a babies arm!
Proves the theory - big bait = big fish IMO.
Great stuff boys.
