Bluebone session today!

Well, we went out for a bit of a bluebone session again today.  Jay went out yesterday while me and a mate opted to wait for the better (hopefully) conditions today.  Turned out not too bad, although when we got to the ramp a little later than we planned it seemed like everyone else had the same idea.
ready for a bash this morning
Boat ready to go this morning

Anyway we wanted to fish the hard running part of the flood and missed about half an hour of it while we waited to launch (bloody Sundays).  We got out and steamed over to our spot, set the anchor and got into it.  Straight away got a few really good hits, webby landed a nice small sized blue that was released.  Then it happened!  In about 1.5m of water i felt that familiar tap tap tap of a bluey playing with the bait.  Then smash! straight to the haven of the reef it tried to go, no way mate your mine.  I got the beautiful fish boatside after a few minutes, and i was stoked.  72cm and just over 15 pounds.  Bigger than the one a couple of weeks ago, stoked!

My NEW PB MONSTER BLUEBONE!!!!
My new PB Bluebone 72cm just over 15 LB's

Anyway the fish mush have spooked what ever was around us, because things got very quiet for the next half an hour.  So we decided to move up to the creek for a crack at a few jacks for an hour or so before going home.

Anyway the tide was ripping and we did get a few small jacks, cod fingermark etc before heading home

small Cod, released
Small cod were very common today all released

small fingermark, released
Nice little fingermark, released
small Jack, released
Little Jack, released.

All in all was a good couple of hours.  Was stoked to smash my PB bluebone and finish off with some fun in the creeks.
Gotta just love the Pilbara

Cheers

PB

You bastard!

Just to let everyone know I went out yesterday to the same location and got absolutely stuff all. Moved around and still got stuff all. Wind was up and it was rough as! Went down the creek and got absolutely nothing, not even a small jack or anything  Water temp was way down.

I think I only managed to catch two fish for the entire day.. a yellowfin bream and a small cod. Yesterdays session would probably go down as the worst days fishing I've ever had...

and then Brad comes and rubs it in with this horse bluebone  nice fish though mate and well done on the PB. Bring on next weekends neaps, barra time!

Have you been snorkelling over the area Brad? If so, have you seen anything special as to why the big ones might be hanging in this area?

Been in a few times adam, twice was big tides and crap vis, other time was neaps and howling SW winds so crap vis again.  The only thing that i can think of, is that it is all barron area around here the only real structure is these oyster covered rocks.  Another factor might be that they are within close proximity of the creeks, so when the fresh washes out all the prawns during the wet, they may be getting fat on them.  The main current line comes straight passed this little spot.
