Pilbara session 25/11/07
Well went out for just a couple of hours this morning with the hope of getting a couple of nice bluebone at our sacret little spot. Caught up with one of my mates anth which was great. Got out to the ground we wanted to try and probably missed the best part of the run, the fish were there just not really playing the game. We got buried a few times but only managed to land one nice cod and a small bluebone. We decided to give the bluebone fishing the ass because the wind was coming up, so we made our way over to one of the creeks for a crack at some jacks.
Anths little bluebone
Got up the creek no worries, the tides are huge at the moment so the current was really ripping. We didn't even bother trying to get any lives, we just found a nice snaggy area and anchored up with a bag of mulies. It wasn't long and we discovered that it was going to be a day of beating the little pickers. Heaps of juvenile jacks and bream around. I guess it is good to see a healthy nursery full of small fish.
One of 4000 bream released
We caught so many small jacks, still fun on lighter gear. All released
Well we moved to another little spot in the creek right on the high, flicked a few SP's around for no joy, anth managed to fall in and cut his arm on the prop, Ouch (luck i carry a first aid kit). Anyway got stuck in to quite a few more jacks and cod no really big fish a couple of jacks over 30cm but it certainly was not boring. Glad we had the fly nets today, saved our asses that is for sure.
Bigges of the jacks, 32cm released
Another of the many jacks caught today, all released (note the bandage on the fore arm with the blood stains)
Well we didn't fish for too long, was thinking about the pool and cold beers back home so we decided to call it quits, was good fun and never boring in the couple of hours, looking forward to next weeks barra trip up north.
One of the million (well maybe) cod we caught today none really very big
beers back at home were pretty cold and the pool was fantastic.
Cheers

G'day Brad good to see you
G'day Brad good to see you managed to get out today, not the best day I see but beats working!
Glenn and I headed down to Samson for some Jack fishing but were a bit dissapointed when we rocked up to see about 12 people fishing there. Felt like getting in the car and driving all the way back to Karratha.
Thought we might as well put in a bit of effort since we busted our guts getting livies. Had a couple of good hits from big jacks, didn't get any good hookups though. Glenn got an estuary cod about 60cm which made him piss on 12lb line, bit of entertainment for the other guys down there.
Very quiet on the jack side of things compared to recent trips. I guess you get that when there is heaps of people burleying the crap out of the joint with mulies.
