Electrical Engine Noise

Hi All,

I have a problem with my electrics.
When I rev the engine I get alot of noise coming theough the sounder(interference on the screen), radio and 27meg
If the engine is idling it all goes away.
It has allways done it while I have had the boat so I can't say what caused it
getting it serviced didn't fix it either.

I have checked the earth on both of the batterys and the wiring bus board and all is fine

Any ideas would be great.

Maybe...

Hi Lindsay

I'm no expert, but I do know that sometimes you can get interferance from cables adjacent to the wiring running from your transducer to your unit. Perhaps relocating the sounder wiring from one side of the boat to the other -r maybe not immediately adjacent to the wiring causing the problem may help. Shielded cabling may also be the answer. Suggest you find a good marine sparky. Couple of thoughts for you...

The noise also comes through my radios as well.
Maybe I should relocate the main Power to the other side ?
Might give that a go this weekend.

Capacitors

Not sure if fitting capacitors would help to arrest the RF as well  NW.

Suggest you also jump on WANGLER and flick Doug Shiner a PM - he's  both very helpful and very knowledgeable. I'd do the latter before you start swapping wires around just yet. As mentioned that's only a possible cause not a definite.

He helped me out with a Buss problem and I fitted blades instead of glass fuses. (Something else)

You've got a few days and Doug's usually very good and returning PM's

You will probably find that

You will probably find that you need a seperate power source from the battery to the units being interfered with. If your electronics are running from the same power source the thats prob where the interference is comong from. I had the same problems until i put all my electrics on there own power supply and now no probs. Speak with a sparky and they should be able to fix the problem
