The game is too ruthless to not adapt Uncle, I personally hated Freo's game style with Ross Lyon. Nothing better than a free flowing, fast game - slowing the game down to become a grind is unwatchable.
If Freo has any chance of bringing on new members, then they need to change. Make it so kids want to watch, families want to watch. After the reception on the weekend with alot of people leaving the game early, it's not good for the future.
Freo fans were laughing in the stands everytime there was a calamity of errors.
It was embarassing and quite laughable, but I've become use to it ! Not anymore.

I'm hearing and trying to understand and sympathise but i'll be honest i'm dead against sacking a coach in 90% of instances....
I'll rattle a few off for you
Mark Harvey - Rolf
Voss - Lepitch - Fagan
Ratten - Malthouse- Bolton
Riley - Bailey - Viney - Craig - Roos - Goodwin
Mckenna - Eade - Dew
Thomas - Rolf ( loosing GF ) - Watters - Richardson
Eade - Williams - Mcartney - Beveridge ( who because of an AFL rule change fluked a GF !! )
The list goes on.....
Now here is a few that members probably wanted sacked

I absolutely dont see any gain and i think from the evidence above there is none to sack a coach, in fact in most cases it willset you back 5-10 year!!
I thought the ruthless approach Freo took by outing Harvey and grabbing Rolf was actually a modern and very well done approach....
A team on the up, a coach fresh out of a GF.....
Anyway, now to the finances, It would buckle Freo to have to pay Rolf out.....
He's on something like a million a year for what is it another 3 or 4 years?
Ouch, so you'd be paying that PLUS the new bloke you poach and for that to fly it would have to be a Matthews, Roos, Clarkson typa guy.... You wouldnt get em for under 1.5....
I feel your pain but i dont think Rolf is the root of all evil, when you draft dickheads into the side like Mcarthy ( why oh why did they pursue him so hard!! ) and Bennell into a culture that aint that flash then your asking for trouble....
Anyway I'm not here offering a solution i'm just giving you another way of looking at it..........

Agree with you there Boon and the above clubs were/are a victim of their own basketcase culture not just the coach. Sometimes though when the coach has completely lost the playing group it's time to move on like with Ken Judge and Peter Schwab>Clarkson

I wasnt sure how long lyon had left, for some reason i thought it was only next year, better look it up i guess.
I just dont understand how a bunch of "pros" can play so bad.
It just has to be the coaching staff, or maybe what i belived was a good team, just really aren't.

I wonder what financial impact the loss of members would have?
as they become fed up with the performances of the club?
Couple this with reduced attendances overall at games and the "loss" would add up - maybe not enough to be around the $$$ the current contracted coach at Fremantle is getting paid, but possibly a factor in deciding whether to cut the losses and pay Rolf and other non-performing coaching / recruiting staff out so the supporters / members and players have some glimmer of hope for success going forward??
As has been said, the talent is there, but not translating into winning footy enough??
