2km of line

2km of line Surprised

Seriously, what are you going to find that can pull even the braid off at 80lb? Massive tuna is the only thing I can think off, but you can still motor the boat to catch up somewhat. I guess if you can fit it then why not hey.

As for the blue rose, hows the action on that? Looks twice as heavy as you'd need? But if it bends reasonably at 50lb line drag setting, then i guess it doesnt matter too much.

I've got only 300m on my reels :p

(and its the same trip.... do i need to chuck some whiplash under there?)

The action on the blue rose

Fri, 2008-05-30 17:46

The action on the blue rose is as stiff as a broomstick. In that sense, it does appear to be unmatched.

Bit worried I was going to

Fri, 2008-05-30 18:54

Bit worried I was going to be majorly undergunned.

(oh and to clarify, I meant pull all the braid off, not some of the braid off)

Better being over equipped

Better being over equipped than under equipped. Come time for that big hook up Id rather be confident of my gear than cautious of the wind in.

1000m of 80lb????

Fri, 2008-05-30 23:33

Not sure if you will come across any grande up that way....Wink

and the little blacks and sails up there can be smashed on 10kg mono with a smooth drag.....check out the fish posted here....think most of adams are on 10???

For what its worth you will find that taking heaps of gear will waste valuable space for packing beer. The gear you use every day down here is suitable up there....

1x 3-7kg spin

1x 10-15kg spin and/or overhead

1x med jig rod that works as a trolling setup as well.

upgrade your leaders (60lb min) and harden up

Have a great trip boysLaughing

Seriously, what are you

I beleive that if you buy a big reel that you have have it fully loaded as with even a small reel  to get the true line retrieval rate ,and i  have lost a few tuna a few years back which took a  lot of line as well as a few sharks not far out of perth , the torque on the other hand had 260 metres of jig line and it was full but using the new braid manged to get 760 yards on it till it filled up , The blue rose is a bit stiff but it is a dream to use and i wouldnt want to have the smaller rod as ive had it loaded up quite a few times previously and was bought for my upcoming trip to png to fish for black bass which you basically need a winch and a broom stick .  Four years ago at Mackeral island cubing for spaniards we lost quite a few big spaniards as I was definatly under gunned and put a bit of a dampner on things .

down not out

Sat, 2008-05-31 18:32

i think feral has the line to go downwards as in fishing 350mtrs down not actually a big run by a tuna or saily or anything
