I'm only guessing that this is some kind of user rating where - if you contribute a lot in a helpful and positive manner - you gain points, however if Adam has to constantly edit or delete your posts due to unacceptable content, then maybe he can delete points etc...

I guess user points might be an indication as to how reliable a posters content can be trusted based on the length of time they have been a member and the number of their accumulated points!

Something I did notice with regard to user points is that they can go up a lot each time you post a picture.

Because I have a Flywest folder and also the Engines Maintenance folder, - I uploaded a heck of a lot of individual pics for the engine maintenance threads on doing your own water pump impellers, oil changes and servicing etc and these took my post count way way up in just a couple days or so.

Now - if points were awarded for the length of individual posts,(number of words typed) I'd certainly blitz all of ya, coz - I was accidentally vaccinated with a grammaphone needle at birth and haven't shut up much since!

Actually my nick names "Bic Biro" - coz theres a guaranteed 1000 words in every refill!

Now - if each Month, the top points persons count was divided by ten and made into a equivalent $ discount, on purchases of tackle from the site sponsors tackle or boat shops - we'll I'd get off my fat behind and post a heap more pics and write a couple more boating maintenance threads! ;o)

If you all want me to give it a rest so you can catch up just say the word! ;o)

I was waiting for this to come up, only took 9 months :) It is like an alternative for the amount posts, as most other sites have. Interesting point Flywest, some incentive to post hey. Might have to think about that one. I don't want to encourage spam posting, but would like to reward members all the same.. Hmmmmmmmm.
