Fishing sat or sun

Anyone thinking about going out sat or sun. I was looking to head up to two rocks and as i have never fished there before thought it would be a good idea to head out with someone that knows the area.

If not might head out to the containers, Rotto as there are some good fish out there at the moment.

Fishing Sat or Sun

Sun, 2006-08-20 22:03

If the conditions are good I'd be keen to come with, have only fished two rocks once, but Gully gave me a bit of an idea of where to find the fish so will be keen to jump onboard to finish some unfinished business.
Otherwise containers are just as good.

You need 4 and your still taking Shizz, dangerous indeed! :)

Cheers Bouttime, keep me on the list, I'm keen to come with you guys. Hopefully the weather will be a bit better this weekend, only thing I'm thinking is that every man and his dog might be out there due to the conditions being so average over the past weekends. Could be worth the trip outa town either two rocks or mandurah way, but either or, I'll just be happy to be out there.

Launching woodmans point. 37 knots. Thats not a bad pace to get out there. Do you have shares with a petrol distributor. lol
I can do 33 knots but dont like watching the fuel guage dropping that fast. 26 knots is a good cruise speed for me
What motor you running.

derwent ey...
make sure you have a frickin powerful sounder ;) ;) ;) (230m)

i think the nearest ramp to the barges would be east fremantle. (28nm), or possibly woodies.

Ramp

I think your right Kasey that East Freo is the closest but Woodies just seems to be more of a direct route. Plus if it blows up you can still fish the Fathem or behind the Islands. DERWENT you say, Im keen for anywere.Either way where ever we go those fish are in a world of trouble.

Woodies

Mon, 2006-08-21 20:37

Yeh, like the Woodies idea. I have a spot in the 70's that will be worth having a sound over, always thought it was the south barge, but not exactly sure what its called, get good pinks and blackass of it when theyre there and is always a good backup if the currents moving too fast. Long way down and back up again just to check bait out at the derwent, I'm happy to video the hurt!

Testing

Mon, 2006-08-21 21:44

Ive been testing out different Ideas lately out deep with soft plastics and the glo squids.I would use one of those and a single hook up top with bait.I found most of the Quality fish were caught on either the squid or the soft plastic ie,Snapper,Mullaway. So Im pretty keen to try out some new techniques on Saturday.

forget the little soft

Mon, 2006-08-21 22:02

forget the little soft squid......too small......try a snell rig on a WHOLE rubber squid....yeap we got them to 12inches !!

Otherwise tougher baits like whole yellowtail, herring, whole squid are better. Bigger the better so the pickers take longer to pick off.

Welcome to the sight, Sea containers are about 10km South West off the west end off rotto. There Scattered everywere so pretty hard to find without GPS coordinates. But they can be anywere between 110m to 250m down. Ive only just recently started fishing them myself and done pretty well. Snapper, mullaway,Sambo,s,Skippy,.Apparently they get skippy to around 7kg in summer. So Im looking forward to that. And thats were people jig for Sambo,s.

The containers, or sometimes

Tue, 2006-08-22 21:25

The containers, or sometimes known as barges, are in 110m of water. There are three; north, south and outer barge, all in 110m of water, and not far from each other.

The spot in 230m of water is a wreck called the derwent.
