GOOD ON YA!!

Sat, 2015-11-14 07:04

 What a champ mate!

Be able to show your kids the photos eh?

Yep, only photos.

Seriously mate have a look at yourself and get educated. Keep shit like that up and we have the disaster of the East coast to look forward to.

I'm the first to say I love my fish and fishing. Do a lot of spearing too. As such we get to CHOOSE the fish we kill. Leave these old blokes alone and re-think being an utter twat.

How can you comment when your picture is of a totally protected cod held up by the gills with a big smile on your face. Bet it lived eh?  And no sayin it was caught in deep water and  couldnt sink it and you feel sad about it.

Thanks for your opinions

Thanks for your opinions champ. I allways operate within leagal requirments set by dep fisheries, from what i have seen fish stocks down that way are pretty healthy.

Im not sure what this "spero rep" you talk of is all about, but from your general negativity  i think im starting to form my on opinion!

Hi Again.

Sat, 2015-11-14 20:44

Would I have had a different opinion if free diving?

No not really.

My opinion sure would have been different without your smart ass comment of "fillets in the freezer bewdy"

Perhaps something like,

Yep man been on my bucket list for a while and got this boy with a sure shot. Heaps here and well, we all get a one off eh?

Next one I'll shoot with a camera!

No I'm not a Greenie, far from it but there ARE spieces out there that just too easily explioted and anyone who's seen these lads underwater know they are super inquisitive and really...........dumb as dogshit for any spearo.

I asked if, and gave you a chance for a reply that showed you as an educated diver who knew the age and easily explioted nature of this fish (Damn mate its likely older than you) but you showed you are not.

As for my Avitar you are partly correct. The Malabar cod is NOT a protected species but the one in shot was well over size. As it was caught in 80m of water and even with venting and using my anchor as a makeshift release wieght plus 20 mins of towing we could not revive the fish.

It was then that some shots were taken and the fish was left to drift away.

Yes I am happy to justify that shot buddy.

Such a shame so many don't or cant.

Ps// If you have Kids let them read the full trancript this post and then justify yourself to them. See how that goes.

Later Matt.

This ole chesnut again.  Personal opinion, personal ethics are just that - you can surely voice your opinion but Matt is within the rules and there's nothing wrong with that.  You can take offence to the way he has posted it and I can take offence to the way you have written your response to him.

It is all a matter of opinion and in Matt's opinion, taking one is fine and within the law and there is nothing wrong with that.

Well, one last post on it all.

Mon, 2015-11-16 15:58

Ok so it seems that opinions vary widely as expected and as Adam noted Matt did nothing wrong. True, never once said he did.

I must ask why it is that the only post that seems acceptable is "Great fish man Beauty!!"

I love to check out the posts here as we all do and love some of the comments, amazing fish and freak catches.

HOWEVER!!

WHY is it that if you see something you DONT like you are expected to turn a blind eye and make no comment?

We are a community of fishing/diving lovers are we not?

Is the only post possible one that ONLY pats the dude on the back?

Lets make sure that we all can do the things we love for a contunued time through to the next generation.

As such I aired MY OPINION towards Matt's Photo.

The reponse was what it was, and I felt that Matt lost the point of my simple question of him.

I will state again the thing that Pisses me and many likeminded divers off so much.

This spieces. Plain and simple. It's a damn tragedy to see them shot. So slow to mature, so old when they change sex so dopey for the recless Spearo.

Matt, your not sure about the "spearo rep" because your exactly the reason we have it. Poor judgement and no education about some fish.

Cruzy, took your OPINION on board and if you want you can get the whole story here on this site under "serious Malaber cod" hope that will help you out.

Jonny, too true we all have different ways we go about our fishing and hunting. Do you have a trophy of your neibours bull on your wall? No, but in spearing terms Matt has.

Peel & Rick, nicely constructed and well thought out arguements lads pat yourselves on the back.

Lastly Adam,

As admin mate I understand you dont want too much abusive tone or language on site but please take on board that we all indeed have our opinions and when aired that can make guys look into the post and maybe rethink some practises or just have a vent as we all should be able.

I come on this website to see

Mon, 2015-11-16 16:53

I come on this website to see photos of people going fishing and catching fish.

If you start yelling at people who are trying to share their fishing experiences with us, then they won't come on this forum and post photos anymore.

He didn't do anything wrong. If you want to see a maximum size limit on Blue Groper then mabye you should bring it up in a separate post or talk to someone in the Fisheries department.

I'm not a big fan of spearing big Blues, (and I spear) but no laws broken and up to the individual. Easier if the authorities put an end to this topic but we also don't want everything banned. Keep up the good work Mandurah Matt as it takes a bit of ticker to dive our coast these days.

 Nice fish mate. Shoot at

Mon, 2015-11-16 19:13

Nice fish mate. Shoot at will I reckon if you are going to eat it and it's within the laws. It's better than hooking up to a massive groper and dragging it up to the top just so you can confirm what you already thought you had on your line then watching it float off. I've pulled up a massive groper (approx 30kgs at gnarloo) and use ten 32 ounce sinkers to get it back down out.

All you do by ramming YOUR OPINION down peoples throats and belittling them is end up looking like a flog.
I have shot big blues in the past however, I wouldn't again if the opportunity presented itself, my choice only. As we all know you are allowed to. To start roasting someone because of the way a reply has been interpreted and not being up to the standard that YOU require is a load of crap in MY OPINION.
Your point could have been made far better as mentioned in some of the posts above with out getting crew offside.
Keep the posts up Matt.

Glad to see. Obvious he was happy with his catch. And wanted to share. Wasn't wasted( food).mandurah Matt was shot down .20 kg plus dhues older:):). Big blues are easy on scuba . Compared to free dive . But I would have thought green ones where main breeders .( females). Before they change sex. ???? Glad to see his post still up. Big fox  fish and black ass prob same age if not older as big blue. They are very friendly underwater. Agree. See all points. Fishing site .

Such a healthy post this has become! Hasn't it?

Tue, 2015-11-17 12:38

Spot on alright to Dtrain! Easy to implement and has been in place for cod spiecies etc for ages.

A little more difficult for anglers taking these as the catch often kills them, but just like cod no point targeting them then and as much as it seems a waste they must go back. TOP post Dtrain.

Well done too in a wierd way Boydy as  you have pointed out you leave them too, Great!

Oh and lads I truely love that I have seen both pos and neg posts. Lads are thinking about it and that is bloody brilliant.

Call me what ever you like too I dont give a flying F%$K as long as I'm allowed to give an opinion I'll do so and I hope some of you will rethink spearing one next time it comes up for a kiss.

Let it go mate. Matt did

Wed, 2015-11-18 07:33

Let it go mate. Matt did nothing wrong. Pretty impressive catch. And it didn't go to waste. Go find someone who kept a 40cm+ Black Bream and bash them for a little while. Or get off your computer and go fishing to ease that tension a bit. Works for me

not your post

Wed, 2015-11-18 07:15

Hi MandurahMat, not your post that need deleating, I used to spear a lot, still do on ocasion.  I dont spear the big ones anny more, but good on you. The odd trophy fish and photo I like to see. At the moment I am copping flack from a couple of vegans because I eat meat, and fish. I dont believe in forcing my opinion on vegans, and don't like them trying to convince me I am a bad person cause I eat meat. Guess we will always get keyboard worriers ,tall poppie syndrome, " I am holier than thou" people.  I would be happy to have a beer with you, ignore or block the wanna be god.  Good luck with your next fishing trip.

regards Marrisy.
