18 hook ups, 4 landed
Submitted by br3nno on Wed, 2016-12-14 17:19
Went out this morning on the boat and burleyed up for herring.
Used a 5g twisty, they loved it. But I kept losing the fish, off the beach I probably would have caught 8 but still. Is this normal? Little frustrated tbh ahah. The lure is new, some that I landed had shredded mouths from previous cracks.
Tips?

18% landing ratio.
Par for the course when using trebles. As mentioned above, swap to singles, or use soft plastics like squidgy flick baits/small jigheads, 1/8 oz or less.

Those twistys have terrible
Those twistys have terrible flexible hooks. The smaller Owner trebles I replace my bream lures with are deadly as are assist hooks I use in place of the trebles on my whiting lures.

+1 twin assists
also keep rod tip in water until landing time. Consider netting caught fish. If not using landing net be careful not to accelerate to fish as you swing it into boat, keep the speed slow and constant.
