2009 exmouth comp

Well with days passing by and next year coming close, maybe now might be the time we actually start looking at working out the exmouth trip that everyone is talking about.

Would be good to get some more idea's on whos going, who needs deckie spots if there is any available, where people want to stay and fish out from, also we can look at sponsorship and prize structure and catagories of what people want to fish for etc.

I for one would love to fish, and hopefully some discussion with certain people might be able to have me fish, but time will tell.

maybe we can get a rough idea of the month people want to fish, then just lock the dates in and who can make it will and who that can't miss out, i know there's no way of making everyone happy but if we can get somewhere in the 10 boat number it would be good anymore would be even better.

Depending on the prizes donated/ sponsors etc, there is 2 options as a small entry fee or just a free entry, something else that can be worked out depending on who we can get and what prizes etc.

Also any other idea's from other members that are looking at going would be great to get this off the ground would be great.

April

I think early april or when the tides are best for tantas launching and retreiving (I got bogged this year on lowish tide) marina launching wont matter and bundegi is yet to be seen wether it will be good for bigger boats than tinnes. we would have waited long enough since the lsat trip by then

Sat, 2008-06-28 15:06

the tackle shack will put up some big prizes for first an second place. i presume a points tally would be the easyest way to work things ie 10 points per kg of cobia etc? what are everyone elses thoughts?
will def be up to fish it

thanks for that offer sandy,

Sat, 2008-06-28 15:18

thanks for that offer sandy, we will hold you to that Tongue out and as brenz said the tackle shack is looking at a fairly decent prize for a 1st and second place.

Maybe yes a points system similar to the N V's S comp, also just wondering what people think about whether the com[p will run over a week or just a couple of days etc.

At present we seem to have a mixture for april and may, i know when paul jesse and myself went up end of may we had 9 top days but each year is different.

Sandy said not a problem

Sat, 2008-06-28 15:23

Sandy said not a problem mathew

I feel we should all stay together where possiable  but i know some want to fish from tantabidi and some like us can only fish from main marina so staying at say the light house caravan park is half way  (jmo)

And the way you run the N V's S works so why not stay with that system ??

A week is better if the weather is not good for a few day .

maybe can do a bottom fish

Sat, 2008-06-28 15:24

maybe can do a bottom fish day and a pelagic/billy day, that way its not going to be a huge thing weighing in a huge amount of fish over 2 days, the billfish day off course would be a catch and release system, just a thought. and as you said, between everyone can always pick 2 days of suitable weather while up there

thats an idea. but

Sat, 2008-06-28 15:31

thats an idea. but personally i would like to see a gamefish day added, maybe a third day, as a different section and those that want to fish fish, those that dont and arent set up can just do a bottom bounce etc, for me and others thats a big part of hitting exxy is for the billies, but yes i hear where your coming from FF.

if we do a points system

Sat, 2008-06-28 15:36

if we do a points system then there would be no need to have game day and a bottom day as points are point fish for what ever . also an honesty system with scales etc so we dont have huge kills for the sake of points.
as for accomidation we know the guys from the ningaloo caravan park and if we can get the numbers roughly i can ring through and book the challets.

Not a BAD idea Brenz, but I think you'll find that some will want to do both. Unless you split the prizes (if that's what you mean) into each section.

Perhaps have spme novelly prizes as well.

Can we please set the dates so I can plan this in?

How about the week before GameEx, so that those who want can stay for that as well?

Bit early to commit 100%

Sat, 2008-06-28 20:45

Bit early to commit 100% ,but i will say yes, we will be there , will keep my eye on the post, and keep you up to date. The only killer will be the fuel, will have to take one or more deckies to split the cost .. I'll make it a ten day trip then there's no big rush to get there ,or get home..

Comp

Tue, 2008-07-01 21:55

If its going to be a fishwrecked comp, then I ! :)  Coz I have some preferences on how it will be run.  A lot of it will be sorted at the pub the night or day before. Cool  Lets get the dates sorted first for housing availability.

Best time for catching

Wed, 2008-07-16 09:27

Best time for catching pelagics in Exmouth(weather wise): August. Highest chance of scoring wind free days...all day. Also tourists start to drop off and no holidays. Hubby has had consist catches of blue marlin and sailies out of his 14fter!!
