2mm in out play on prop shaft

After installing new prop for first time.
i have noticed my prop shaft can push forward and spring back.
2mm of movement.
its a 75mercury 2/stroke.2002
does anybody know if this is normal.?

The shaft is sealed with a round rubber seal, the opening of the seal is slightly smaller than the shaft and has a "lip" that prevents water entering and oil escaping.
They only start leaking if there is something wrapped around the prop shaft (usually fishing line), it has managed to wear a deep enough groove in the prop shaft or gone hard from age/lack of use.
My fishing spots are so secret........... even the fish don't know where they are !!
