8000 fa or 8000 sw

the sw fa thing has probably been done here a few times but ill have a shot anyway. got offered an 8000fa new for 750. mmm sexy reel. should i get it or the sw model. any advice based on experience and specs would be hugely appreciated.

well.....that FA is cheap if its brand new. An 09 SW model will be closer to $1000. Then again if I can, I buy the new model and not worry about upgrading later.

You may be able to get a 8000SW under $1000, I got my 20k less than $1100 when the retail was $1300. Shimano have recently announced price drops on the SW stellas aswell.
Don't forget resale is going to be better on the current model as well.

got an 8000fa, great reel, would I like a SW, yep, but do i feel it is that much better, probably not, so I kept my FA, and will bey the SW when and if the FA poops itself - probably outlast me anyway.

Does a Stella really need replacing when it's superseded by a newer model? My old SW20000PG is still going strong and I've never really thought of upgrading it.

a first class reel like a stella is always going to be first class. looking @ a new fa and a new sw, it reall comes down to taste. i think the fa looks really tough, like it just wants to kill fish. the sw looks like a sporty little thing that lives for the fight. they do the same thing. its nice to have a choice at this stage of the game. im stumped though.

Its a fair bit lighter and that drag clicker.....its LOUD!!
It also has a wee bit more cranking (torque) power.
Another plus is the new 10k spool fits on the 8k reel.
To be honest, if you're buying it now. I rather save a little more dough and get the new model. Its not like you have to come up with another $1000 for a new model.
