Advice needed for up north

Hi everyone

I'm planning to head north from Perth for a 3 or 4 day fishing trip early next month, but I'm not too sure where's good this time of year. I was thinking about kalbarri or jurien bay. Did a bit of reading and got the impression kalbarri was more of a winter spot. Would I be better off going to jurien or somewhere else instead?

It'd be a land based trip, unless I can get myself and the missus a spot on a charter. Would really appreciate anyone's advice about where to go as well as local hot spots if you're feeling generous, as this is gonna be my first time heading up north. Don't mind beach/rock/jetty fishing/ballooning... Anything really.

PS Seasport is running a charter at kalbarri at the moment, would it be worth giving that a go at this time of the year?

 Thanks

Kalbarri

Definately Kalbarri, two very good fishing charters and plenty of great land based fishing, beach, rock and even up the river or off the jetties.

Plenty of quad bike tours, both in town and out at Wagoe, great fishing from Wagoe with the Easterlies, and some good beach fishing at Lucky Bay near Wagoe, with great beaches to relax on.

Beach fishing to the North of town is pretty special.

Cheers

Either one is good, you should get onto some fish at both locations. The jetty at jurien has been firing recently

As Old Banga mentioned plenty of options from very relaxing to demanding cliff climbs to get to spots. I find going to Kalbarri you need to take a few fishing options along, as I tend to fish the style I feel like at the moment. Happy there fishing for whiting off the sand spit, Tailor at Wittecara or Blue hole (with bait), throwing Poppers/Lures from the rocks at the river mouth for Jumbo tailor, casting small lures at "snags" for Mangrove Jacks and Bream. The jetty and upriver for Soapies, Bream and the odd Jack.

Then Red Bluff for all sorts, but especially fun chasing gardies to be used later as bait. Cliffs for all sorts including Snapper. The list goes on and on. Why wouldnt you go???

Considering all the

Considering all the suggestions, I've decided to make the trip up to kalbarri while stopping to check out the pinnacles and possibly a nature walk on the way up(for her - to balance out the itinerary), and spend a day in jurien bay. Bringing up the gear to cover all the mentioned options for land based as well as a likely day out with seasport or reefwalker.  We havent got our accomodation sorted yet but hopefully that wont be too difficult.

If theres any suggestions for cheap accommodation or "couple stuff" we could do up there I'd love to hear about it.

Already frothing just thinking bout the trip.. Cheers for all the input guys. I'm still a relatively new member, but can say that this community never disappoints!

 I would suggest going up

I would suggest going up during the week as it can get fairly busy on weekends accomodation wise. Shouldn't be too bad if not in school holidays but I prefer to have less of a crowd.
