Advice on new spin jigging rod & thoughts on new Catalinas.
G'day all,
New to the forum (been reading heaps 2nd post) Looking at getting a new jigging rod, I want to match it with the new Daiwa Catalina 4500H about pe 2-5. I have a Venom Live Fibre OH pe 1-3 with a Trinidad 16n and love the rig but want to get a slightly heavier setup. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I Live in Darwin but originally from Perth, went out with Craig from Saltwater late last year jigging for sambos and loved it, will be having another crack this year. Was a couple of Fishwrecked guys on board, can't remember their names.!! They were fishing with some serious rigs tiny little rods on Saltigas etc!!!!!
Have not done ahead of jigging up here but intend to give it a red hot go this dry for Jewies, Mackies and GT.
Cheers Muntzy.

I just bought a new Catalina
I just bought a new Catalina 4000 and love it so smooth and easy to use, yet to Realy test it out but it's sure feels and looks good hahaha, as for rods jigging master has plenty of rods that will be what your after, the pe1.5-4 will suit it perfectly and can handle up to 18kg of drag.
always looking for a new challenge!!

18 kgs of drag!!!!?
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

My guess is that's the dead lift weight, not max drag.

At 60 degrees rated to more
At 60 degrees rated to more than that at 90 degrees in fairly sure its about 16 or something but either way it's a crazy amount for such a light and strong rod and I think it is dead lift weight, my 10kg max rated one I have used a locked drag on 20lb and it handled it fine and felt nice so I would not have a problem pushing these rods much harder than you can others.
always looking for a new challenge!!

Jigging Master
The Jigging Master Three Kings special UL PE 1.5-4 would be an awesome match for your Catalina. Been playing with the Catalina 4000 instore and it matches this exact rod nicely, The 4500 would be no exception either. We can do that rod for $599 Fw Price or if you wanted a more Parabolic actioned rod like the Venoms the Jigging Master Evolution Titanium 200 spin PE1.5-4 ($599 FW price) or Evolution Titanium 250 PE 2-5 ($609 FW price) would match nicely.
We send items to Darwin and all parts of Australia all the time so we can arrange Postage too.
Cheers

Mate the trini will do that
Mate the trini will do that job unless you really want a second outfit. Just upgrade the rod you have. Also the Saltiga S extremes are going for $799 at the moment as they clear them out and you could also pick up the older model Catalina too. Both are proven and offer excellent value for money right now rather than paying premium for a newly released model reel.
Agree on the above for rods plus to save more coin a Tcurve deep jig 200 is a great rod in this range.
