Would disconnect the trailer from the car - put the car behind the boat and tie back of boat to car to stop it sliding forward, put a cushion or something soft under the rear of the boat - then winch the trailer under the boat - will do very little damage than already done
Tough crowd. Must be hard to have never made a mistake. 90% of boats are winched onto the same post that the safety is also attached to - winch post breaks, boat comes off trailer. Pretty poor form to find humour in other peoples expensive misfortune.
So had to endure the "humour". Despite being a double checker the spectra and safety gave way. I was guilty as hell about this until the insurance assesor told me it was cut (the spectra) and by the look off the pin in the shackle it was lossened. Happened when I stopped of at the boat club after retrieving the boat, some low lives.
Felt better after that but now have extra security, just so that Im never laughed at again!!!!
The Mrs was pretty pissed at me "for not correctly fastening it" and I felt sorry aswell.
Was gutted when told by the assesor that something so low could happen but relieved aswell, as I am pretty pedantic about safety etc.
Was suspected little kids that was seen around the club, and I dont think they could have realised the serious nature, but then who knows.
In the end no harm done, grazes superficial to the hull and easily fixed. Gearbox took a beating but was already planning to upgrade, so the insurance money actually helped that a little. But then a Trailcraft is tough, and this poor person has a heavy glass boat, and gelcoat vs tarmac does not equate well.
I always put 2 straps on, one over the back, and one up front, bolt and chain and winch. Never worth that happening! Poor fella, just prior to Christmas, won't be in the water for ages
LOOKS LIKE a service center might have some explaining to do. Yes sir your boat won't be ready when we said. we came across some more problems then we anticipated...

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Yeah. Ha Ha.
This is why boat insurance keeps going up. We can all giggle and make cute comments, but we all end up paying for it.

I went out once and when we got to the ramp, couldnt find the bung, so a sock did the job for the trip (to pull cray pots)
Came back to the ramp with only a little bit of water in the bilge and found the bung, right where i left it, in a very safe place...

What would you do? Winch it
What would you do? Winch it up and do further damage just to get out of there ASAP or call a crane?
