Any South Africans on this Forum ?

Hi guys I have been an inactive member on your forum, and have read and seen some really cool things on here .

I am visiting sunny Australia, My sister's Wedding in Perth .

An I just wondered are there any Expats on here .

As for my Fishing agenda , things are unknown , and still to be researched on my side .

Any Ideas , spots , species from the locals will be appreciated ....

Please enlighten me .

Regards

 Thanks for everones

Tue, 2012-03-06 14:22

Thanks for everones responses , I see some familar words like Vok ha ha ha .

to the guys that has left , ZA , well the mountain is still flat , we still got smoking hot girls , and we had a SUPER SUPER Tuna season , so far the biggest Yellow fin landed was 132kgs by Jason von Bonde [ from Tuckers tackle]  I Saw the fish in Houtbay and I would have estimated it to be closer to 160kgs , a GIANT GIANT of a fish !!!! Definately the biggest fish landed the past 3 years ... only by 15 kgs thought !From the surf , we have taken some Bronz whalers ranging from rats to fish close to 180kgs , the Kob[your mullowayhas been scares and not alot of big fish has been landed in Falsbay , however thare been some good catches of large 20 to 30 kgs Kobs down in Struis .

the Gamtoos surf has agian produced 2 giants of close to 80 kgs , yes 80 kgs ....

Lekker guys

It is usually easy to spot the manne on a surf beach -

Tue, 2012-03-06 22:36

- they are the ones using overhead reels, long rods etc.  In extreme cases (well, so far only me actually) you may also see a KP in action.  If you do, come and say hi

Funny, I grew up with the KP reels

Tue, 2012-03-06 22:46

The Indians on the beach taught me to cast as a kid, then I saw this guy use a penn surfmaster or castmastrr, and geez could he chuck that 5oz lead...had me sold on overheads that day. And today I like the spin reels for soft plstics

Yahhh not hard to spot a Saffa  this is the east coast of South Africa after all . Just look for rods the length of industrial antennas, overhead reels and a few slide baits. There is plenty here, I must make the effort to meet a few one day, now we are settled in Perth now. Let us know if any gatherings are organised.

 Galjoen season just opened

Fri, 2012-03-09 17:54

Galjoen season just opened and theres some nice hole open in the Standfontein /Wolfgat areas .

Those size Crackers are far and few between , up in EP they get them good sized fish .

In the past 5 years we have had no Crackers over 13 kgs ... We actively target them in Struis , and Gourits .
