Are there any AJ's around ??
Submitted by Maverick on Mon, 2006-09-11 15:07
G'day everybody , I have heard some whispers that there are some monster AJ's off Hillaries in 100m plus water , can anyone confirm for me , I have friday off and the weather is looking good for a trip out wide , might head out there to get amongst them .
I have some home made slim jigs I want to try out before I post pics of them .
PS is there any type of structure out in 100m of water I should be looking for ??? probably will be heading west nor west from Hillaries or Ocean reef.
CHEERS , MAV.

AJ's!
At my west of rotto spot's Mav, we got heaps of small AJ to 10kg last week and I got 1 at 20kg on jig (30lb O/H gear)
That NW wreck holds big AJ, my biggest was 30kg plus so far and they should be there now, Al should be able to elabourate more me thinks!
All the best!

Thanks Ryan
I have only been out twice in the last 5 weeks or so, hopefully I'll be going out in my tub on Friday , I'm just waiting to see what the weather is going to be on friday , going to try out from Ocean reef , out in 110 m (so I have heard) , I don't mind a feed of Ambo so will be keeping one or two for a feed if I do get some , I only have up to 400 g jigs at the moment so I hope the current isn't pumping too strongly out there .
Any one else heading out Friday ???

Yep for Friday
Think Tapout and myself are going to head out on Friday if the conditions stay the same as the early forecast. We are thinking about heading north, either Mindarie or Two Rocks to try something a bit different. We don't really have any spots or any idea of where to fish but are thinking of just heading out and seeing what we can't find.

Looks like I am a starter Mav
I have a couple of deckies lined up for Friday and will be heading out of Mindarie in about 45m or so, may even push out wider to some ground I found about 4 months ago that looked promising but has yet to deliver.
Good luck with the AJ's. If you are on the radio I answer to "Mackattack" so let me know how you are going if you find some AJ's out there.
Cheers

Prediction
Adam will catch lots of fish and so will Tapout, Andy Mac will catch nothing.
Fishing Predictor says 60% rating. Major feed between 5-30am and 8-00am and minor feed between 10-20am and 12-51pm. Moon set is 11-21am
Good luck.

Friday Mocca
You can try that trick Andy, don't expect it to work thou. :) Hmm, the predictor has been pretty good of late, maybe an early early start is in order.
Who do you believe thou:
BOM:
Friday: S'ly winds 8/13 knots, tending W/SW 10/15 knots late morning.
Buoyweather:
Friday Morning
Light winds with a slight chop. Moderate long period swell.
Winds: ENE 9 to 13 knots
Seas: SW 7 feet at 12 sec.
Friday Afternoon
Light and variable winds with smooth seas. Moderate long period swell.
Winds: NNE 5 to 6 knots
Seas: SW 7 feet at 12 sec.
Seabreeze:
Says North-North West light in the morning/blowing up around lunchtime to over 15 knots.
So much information, probably just better to jump in the boat and head out there. :)

We've made the call to do just that. Head West!!!
I'll check Seabreeze again tomorrow lunch time and I figure that will be as accurate as you will get. Anything can happen with the weather so we'll take it as it comes and "adapt" accordingly.
I'm sure you will be doing the same.
