August metro Mackie

Went out friday off Mindarie and had a jig on a sambo spot had a few suprises. None more than this 15kg Mackie on jig in August in 18.9 degrees WTF??

Father in laws first Mackie. I got a 6 kg Kingie mate got a double header of sambos on jig. Finished off with a bottom bash  and got a nice 51cm Black bum.

All in all great day.

Only wish i could have got out again on Saturday!!!!!

All good fish for different tastes. Seamed like a good weekend for fishing and I'M stuck at work. Keep the reports coming, I need another 3 1//2 weeks of stories to get me through this hitch.

Mon, 2014-08-18 13:18

Nice eating size fish all round, that water temp is cold for mackies but these days you seem to get all sorts any time of the year. That breaksea does look very good as well.

Mon, 2014-08-18 17:08

How did the assist look after the mackie? Or did it get snagged on the face?

A metro Mackie in August, what is the world coming to. Well done guys. I can see the picture of the Mackie and the kingy, but the other picture looks like a coral trout to me, mybe I need to get a new pair of glasses. I haven't seen a BA that colour before nor of that size what a ripper.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Top capture with the maccie!

Tue, 2014-08-19 15:08

Top capture with the maccie, once of my favourite eating fish.

As for BBum, I have mates who love them, but personally I rate them very low, they seem to be rubbery when I cook them...don't know what I do wrong.

Unfortunately they don't release well......

John, surprised you dont rate them that well. I wish they grew to twice the size, always found them great on the chew
