Aussie Day

What's everyone doing for Aussie Day? I'm stuck at work and doing cyclone preps, just snuck onto the computer for a quick look at what its doing. Hopefully bail soon and go and watch the cricket with a few coldies this arvo, just thought I'd see what everyone else was up to?

Blow hole shack
Got to take a run up to check out if the sea rescue's blow holes shack [emergency base if rescue needed up off Quobba] is ok. Been reports of break ins to at least 6 shacks so hope its not ours. Will take camera to get pics of road damage on the way, was supposed to be 20-30km of road washed away completely.
This evening will drive the rescue boat for patrol duties at fireworks on the Fascine and as base for flare demonstration if permit come through in time.

Blowholes road
There isn't anywhere near the damage described to me on the road in. There is a side track in place about 1 Km from the NW coastal hwy and another one lane section section on the salt lakes where the run off has taken one side of the road away.
Have had no reports of the condition of the road north from the blows but would think it will be in good nick by April
Some theiving bastards have broken in to 90% of the shacks and from the look of the items stolen they are setting up house. Tvs, fridge, freezer, crockery, cuttlery, linnen and bedding were pinched ,gen sets, booze, fishing gear were not touched. We ,sea rescue, only lost a tv, with the gen set and radios left behind. I know what I and a lot of others would do if we caught them and it wouldn't be pretty.
