Avon decent powerboat questions.

Hi all,
might just be a pipe dream at the moment but wondering if anyone on here has ever had a crack at the powerboat aspect of the Avon descent? I am well aware the race has literally just been run, but wondering if anyone in here has had a go themselves?
i presume there are limitations such as hp rating, boat size, fuel type ect. Just wondering if anyone can give guidance from past experience on ways to potentially have a crack at it next year. Bodie and I from on here would be keen at giving it a crack, just need to get some indicative costs and complexity with getting the idea off the ground.
cheers
scano

Few of my old mates do it.
Few of my old mates do it. First year you would have to go 8hp standard. You need to do 'x' amount of lead up races. Eg the blackwood at nannup. Call the power dingy club. Good bunch of people

Now the big one is over you
Now the big one is over you see a few popping up for sale on gumtree.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

I thought it looked awsome and wanted To give it a go... Then I seen some guy who was on the news who was entering... they were doing trial runs he fell out and got his leg chomped up and bone smashed to pieces by the propeller....then I thought nah... Other than that looks good fun tho

Some young blokes from Kalbarri did it years ago.,
Practiced around home by running it flat out over rocks and sandbars, and suchlike. They managed to smash a cowling, and borrowed the one off my tender o/b for the actual race. So, a bit of a dinghy I owned has actually completed The Descent.
