Back from the bush again
I've just got back from another trip in the bush, one that consisted of interviewing heaps of people from o/s-interstate-down south, plenty of big catches from the boaties and plenty of 'enough for a feed catches', the processing of 165 fish frames for research, administering first aid to a shark attack victim, watching 12-14ft waves at Tombstones and Midgies at Gnaraloo and half the small boating fleet in Gnaraloo lose their boats and engines from the big spring tides and monster swells plus several boats breaking their moorings. I've also got some pretty sick footage of big waves at Tombstones and Red Bluff that I will edit up when I get time.
I'm back in Exmouth for the next 4 days and hoping to get some boating action and get into a few myself.
I hope all of you have been getting a fish or two and if your heading to Exmouth or anywhere between Exmouth and Canarvon over the next month or two, send me a message so we can catch up for a cold one.
Cheers,
Adam

A dozen
About a dozen, some getting tow ins, some getting towed out of the impact zone. The boogers were cutting sick!!! A lot deeper than the skegs, having said that, it was a northerly swell and wasn't lining up perfectly, still plenty hollow thou!

I was speaking to the people
I was speaking to the people as it happened. I wouldn't actually call it a shark attack, well, the media seems to have but it seemed more like she stepped on a wobby and it turned around and latched on. We bandaged her up and sent them on the way to Coral Bay and called 000 emergency and let them know they needed to be ready. Would have been interesting if we weren't around as they didn't know what to do and were very remote. It was atleast 50km south of Coral Bay at Pelican Pt, strangely enough in a Sanctuary Zone, but we won't elaborate on that any further...

yesterday I heard that they are not sure if she will keep her foot, depended upon how her surgery went. It sounded quite serious.

Sanctuary
Funny you mentioned the Sanctuary Zone Adam.
Heard authorities are questioning her and the group she was with about fishing within the zone.

Large reef shark
Yeh, the kid who said it was a 2.5m shark wasn't even anywhere near her. Amazing how stories get changed... I'm no surgeon so can't comment on the amount of damage, but I would have thought from what we saw it was a well over 40 stitch job, there was a large pool of blood in the water thou, atleast 2 meters worth behind her. We were most concerned about the blood loss compared to the injury she had sustained, but it was all pretty heat of the moment sort of stuff.
