the bali pair

my hopes and prays are going out to the two aussie boys to be executed in Indonesian to night ,yes they did wrong and yes the need sever punishment , but the Indonesian government not just held them for over ten years but I believe the indos are feeling very smugg as they know most of Australians are against then being killed , to me they are torchering every aussie the way they have dragged this out, withdraw our diplomatic reps there and cut of our financial aid and see how smugg they are

the only reason its dragged out is because of the fkn idiots Chan and Sukamarin thought that appealing would actually do something? Do the crime, do the time - just fkn kill em already and get over it.

Wed, 2015-04-29 18:20

I hate drug trafficker's as much as anyone , problem is the indos have used this pair as pawns to give all aussies an upper cut to the jaw , just because they could. If you have travelled as much as I have in Asia you will soon find out that the Indos hate Australia with a passion (maybe not the Balanese) but the rest of the country does . what they do love is our generous foreign aid but, which mostly disappears into corrupt government officals pockets

I couldn't care either way as they are drug dealers, but what gets me going is that our own government was the one that dobbed them in and now trying to bail them out of the crap they threw them into.

Look at all the problems

Tue, 2015-04-28 21:52

Look at all the problems heroin causes, crime etc.

Time that the death penalty was introduced here for commercial import or manufacture of ice at least.

Only in the last few weeks, the bloke who got paranoid while on ice and murdered his girlfriend and best mate, also the Mullewa kid who raped and murdered the girl in Perth.

All the other fucken psycho ice addicts, look at what the shit has done to Cousins.

Are they able to make their own decisions? Of course, but they are also weak.

The suppliers obviously arent generally addicts so participate only thru greed-shoot them

Bali 2-sad for their families, but shoot them and get it over with.

Abbott and co-sort shit out here and there is way more important and deserving crusades overseas.

While I probably wouldnt shoot them myself, Id loan the Indos my rifle without qualm

Then flog it on Ebay for big bucks

That's a piss weak reason Rob, Cousins is weak?? You gotta be kidding.

Most of your comments are usually well measured but I reckon that's the biggest pile of crap you've ever written.

What's about to happen is state sanctioned murder, no less.

And what sort of execution style do you recommend for Australia? Bring back the gallows?

They are drug dealers no argument there and deserve 20 years, not to be murdered.

Cousins obviously is weak Andrew-I dont condone the death penalty for him-Im not sure if you do or what?

You may be misunderstanding me Andrew-addicts are weak people, I wouldnt condone executing them for being addicts.

Smugglers/organisers/commercial manufacturers are the ones who do it solely for commercial gain-time to put some of the extreme misery they cause into their punishment.

Sorry Andrew, but if you cant deal with the fact that others may disagree with your liberal views well bad luck.

If you want to burn bridges over that, your decision.

I wont be shedding tears, and you and I will be on FW long after they are gone

THEY ARE NOT DRUG DEALERS, THEY ARE DRUG SMUGGLERS

I'm finding women more compassionate basically for their maternal instinct on this issue. Ayway it's too late now they've been shot and we can get on with our lives.

WTF has being a woman got to do with it ? Jeeeezus  why is there no middle finger 'smiley'

My opinion comes from knowing firsthand, many times, how an overdose or dependency effects families and friends. Of course I would be devastated if it were one of mine. I can only hope I have raised them to have enough sense to know right from wrong.

Living in Jakarta, and talking to locals about this and all the other fiascos over the years. Mixed opinions on this topic but the 80% in favour quoted somewhere, would be about right. Mixed between male & female I might add

I find it curious the Aust Feds were tipped of by a family member, who then alerted the Indo police.

Anyway, I wholeheartedly agree with everything that has been said here and I'm glad it's finally over. Well, besides the political backlash.

Through lack of action by previous presidents of Indonesia this thing has dragged out far far longer than it should have. The two guys have had ten years of life they would not have had if the Indonesian government has taken action some ten years back, for those extra years they can be thankful.

Fathom for your info there are 10 people going to be executed by firing squad. No blanks will be issued as they are all to be shot at the same time and a target is placed over their heart and they are offered a hood. You do the crime you pay the penalty.

May god have mercy on their sole.

Had to sit down and explained what these idiots did and all the crap about drugs and now they were gonna be shot. Hope their deaths stops a generation of younger kids to not take drug smuggling as a joke when they grow up. This is what Indonesia wants, all the exposure. Even the barbaric way they are executed. When they got caught with the drugs on them wasn't their first smuggling trip. They both had been on runs before and one had actually done jail time in Oz after being caught so they knew what the penalty as and were prepared to gamble with their and 7 others lives and lost.

Good riddance, they got their just deserves. No sympathy from me now or in the future. They were supposedly rehabilitated, bullshit, you will do anything to save your own life and in this case all for nothing.

How many lives were saved by the drugs not reaching Oz will never be known but one only has to read the paper to see how many addicts are found with the needle still in their arm, if there was no supply then these people would probably still be alive and with the ones who loved them

Woke up this morning and all I heard was about the executions. Changed channel the same. Absolutley no mention of what is happening in Nepal where  over 5000 dead and Australians are missing. Some of them were volunteers.

Wont be watching the new tonight.

candle light viduals held across the country last night - not for those who dies in Nepal.

To many dogooders in this country - might change their minds if they were victims of crime that involved drugs

They knew the penalty if they got caught

I just hope the government does not pay for their bodies to be brought back to Australia. That money should go to Nepal.

iceman  agree

,

these guys where guilty as , they knew the result if caught , they chose to hope that if caught enough pressure would be brought to bear on the indonesian gov that they would not be executed,     their gamble failed on all levels imo

very sad for their families  & the families of those  people who had been supplied with their drugs & the lives /emotional cost these two inflicted on others by the trade in drugs

australians in general need to wake up to the fact that our soft ,tolerant ,  socialist approach to some of these things is changing our society for the worse ,

what is also damging is the effect this has on our long term relationship with indonesia , a country right on our doorstep with 250 million people there, at a time of world instability , we dont need to be interferring in the laws of our neighbours, breaking down relationships ,

contrary to our notion we arnt that big or important a political player

hopefully others might pay more attention to the laws on drugs overseas , they do mean what they say

Kids

Wed, 2015-04-29 07:53

People keep raising the question, "what if it was your kid". Of course as a parent you wouldn't want you child to be on death row. I hope and pray that my kids will never do something that stupid as to put themselves in that position. I have 2 young kids and spend hours worrying and working out strategies to educate them. In the end, we can only do so much.

I would do all I could as a parent to appeal to the sensitivities of the government and plead for forgiveness. But, if a law is in place, and you know the law, and you roll the dice, Im sorry, but you have to deal with the consequences, as barbaric as they are. Unfortunately as Marko said this wont stop the drugs.

Here is another question. Your kid has placed an order with a dealer for their first ever hit of meth/cocaine/herion (take your pick). You dont know where your kid is right now but you know for a fact where the dealer is going to be just before they meet with your kid. What would you do to the dealer if you caught them before they get to your kid. God help them if I get their first.

The Indonesians just got their first. I wouldnt have shot them, but I would not have shown restraint either. I will then deal with the consequences of my actions.

It was a harsh punishment for

Wed, 2015-04-29 08:34

It was a harsh punishment for sure but the signs are there as you fly in. Indonesian law is a bit backawrds, you could commit a crime much more serious and get less than they did but their law is just that. The AFP certainly stuffed up and should have got them all when they cam back instead of leaving thier fate with the Indonesians. They could have caught many more people and brought down a ring of dealers in a area.

I agree regardless that the capture of the 9 individuals and now the deaths of the two ringleaders could have certainly saved lives back here as well, i've had many do-gooders saying it's sanctioned murder and how would you feel if it was your kids and as above i'd want my kids spared as well but it doesn't excuse their actions and i'd feel i have failed as a parent if they ever went down the path of a life of crime.

It's sad that this will be in the media for a while to come yet, there is so much more we could report in the news, especially feel good stories froma round our nation but that isn't shock and awe like they want. i just wish this wind would piss off so i can go fishing so i don't have to read about it.

Im not too fussed about the whole thing but i dont blame the dealers for the individuals choice to take drugs. Alcohol causes alot of grief in society with drink drivers killing innocent people etc but the world would be better off without hard drugs.

The warnings about the death penalty have always been known so indo may seem weak if they dont follow thru.

After all of that...

...death penalty still not enough of a deterrent. How many times did the nine get away with it before they were sprung?

Face it, everyone has their price, and the odds of being caught are still low enough for the traffickers to keep on trafficking.

If anything, this whole saga, especially the flogging from the media, will drive up the black market price for heroin/ice/etc, which will lead to more instances of theft and other crimes to meet the higher cost of "getting a fix".

Support for them is overrated

Wed, 2015-04-29 13:03

We all heard how the Australian governement tried everything to prevent the executions....they basically had to appease the dogooders.  I really don't think that's what most of them actually believed or wanted.

I would think a poll of Australian citizens regarding whether the Indos did the right thing would overwhelmingly support that they did...I'm guessing over 80%.

The posts on this thread is case in point.

...and to be transparent, I'm firmly in the "execute them" camp.  The drug scourge is way out of control and any measures to discourage traffickers and smugglers will never be too severe.

This scumbag filth of the earth drug smuggler hasn’t been killed yet , it’ll be a valuable lesson to the uneducated and poor if they do shoot her though .. however they did get to shoot the nigerian bloke who only had 50 grams of smack in his possession ( not charged with trafficking )

Wed, 2015-04-29 14:26

I dont disagree with the outcome, after all the signs are billboard size, break the laws and the penalty is clear. Shooting may be deemed brutal but in Saudi, they cut off your head. Different folks, different strokes, if you will excuse the pun.

What I dont like however is the media circus and the apparent indifference shown to the families by the Indo authorities. I just could not believe that the families had to run that media gauntlet to get to see their sons, could they not have taken them in a car to the door or held the press back a respectable distance. Can the Indos get their act together long enough to perform this unpleasant duty in a uniform and consistent way ? On one hand they have the Justice Minister sayng that they families can stay with them until 8.00pm - then the police chuck them out at 2.00pm. Left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing or are they all generals ?

In any event, its over, finally.

the bali 9 years later

Wed, 2015-04-29 16:50

'the bali 9 years later' would be a more suitable name for the group, given how bloody long it took- thanks to all the do gooders being up in arms because they were actually nieve enough to think that these drug smugglers had honestly been reformed.
WRONG!, one of them had already done time, did that stop him from doing it again? NOPE!
I dont even know what actually happened to corby, thats how long ago i lost interest. Maybe australia should have the same harsh penalty instead of giving offenders a slap on the wrist, a small fine and a couple hours of community service...it would definately lower our taxes going to the dole bludgers, and medical expenses.
If it was my child that got caught, I would disown them... I'd have raised them better.
They played with fire and they got burnt. I do feel for the families, its unfortunate.

interesting reading

Wed, 2015-04-29 15:32

Chris R ref your comments...
Reading some of this I think I've landed in a "Western Movie"
This is my understanding of the position this "scumbag filth of the earth" found herself in. May be wrong...but
Judging by the Job she has taken... probably a village girl. Not a lot of education.
Filipina Maid applys for a job, gets sent details and ticket to KL... Thousands and thousands of maids in Singapore/ Hong Kong/ Bangkok/ Jakarta... etc.
Arrives in KL to be told the jobs gone, but they put her in hotel and give her "pocket money" as there is the possibility of another job coming up in a few days. Remember village girl, strange country, no money, decent hotel, so given pocket money and told couple of days she will possibly be given an opportunity in Indonesia..
Waits in the hotel as instructed, gets told job has become available but your luggage is old.. we will give you some new luggage... accepts, do I really need to spell it out...
Gets on plane arrives and gets numbered with 2.5 kgs in the "new Luggage" and wasn't nervous; why would she be; perfect courier...
Oh sorry I forgot to add, are there some dumb people in the world, sure are.. (I'm one of them)and reading on here some fairly ignorant, uneducated and callous ones as well, no not a bleeding heart by any means but... sometimes you gotta ask yourself???
"To sin by silence, make cowards out of good men"....Ella Wheeler Wilcox.
Quick search found this plenty out there..

Surely you jest , are you

Wed, 2015-04-29 15:45

Surely you jest , are you telling me that she’s been locked up for years and has come within a whisker of being shot , but she may be innocent ?

I find that hard to believe ,  surely the indonesian authorities would show more due diligence than that and being innocent until proven guilty would be of the upmost importance . I have heard rumours though that there is some corruption regarding judges , govt officials and police etc over there that may alter outcomes on whether you live or die .

BTW I think we are on the same page Shammy

 my question is, why doesn't

Wed, 2015-04-29 15:37

my question is, why doesn't the Australian government say something to the USA in regards to their death penalties, or China, or the Arab nations??? Why, cause our elected government is too busy sucking the states D*&k, the way i see it, their countries laws are their laws, no outside government or tree hugging greenie do-gooder has the right to change that. Unlike our government who are too soft so they let every other culture/nationality come here and try and change our laws to suit them. Time for this government to grow some huge balls and say enough is enough, and stay the hell out of other countries laws.

I feel for the families of these two, but at the end of the day thems the rules, just like having 100 or so undersize blue manna crabs down in Mandurah, and claim you didn't know, you know the rules and eat a big fat one when you get fisheries throw the book at you. Unlike Indo, foot high signs telling them that death awaits if you try and traffick drugs.

Chris R,

I do hope that no one you know ever gets in the same position as this girl, I think calling her " scumbag filth of the earth " is a bit callous mate.

To balance out the coverage

Wed, 2015-04-29 16:22

To balance out the coverage today

the news should list everyone who died in yesterday from overdose or drug violence

In 2005 there were 1388 drug related deaths according to the ABS

Roughly FOUR PER DAY, every day

I just think the Indonesians are sitting back with a smug FCKING look on their face, feeling proud about how they can kill our people, but work dam hard to stop other countries who have Indonesian's on death row from killing their own.
Without Aussie's, what have they got, nothing, without our tourism $$$ they would be nothing, but hey come on over, we will sell you all the drugs you need, more money in the coffa. then we will catch you, and if we can't squeeze more money from you with bribes, then we will kill you. They should put a sign up at the exit gate at their airports saying, " don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out "

This has all been about a big fuck you to Australia Wez. If they were serious about the drug problem then they'd clean up the corruption first which permeates every level of their system. Anyway I'm in the minority here and apparently very ill informed of the ways of the world, but at least I have some compassion. As I've said before yep they're smugglers, dealers whatever and deserve 20 or 30 years not to be shot in cold blood. My last word on the subject.

jus want to say this I have travelled in asia for the last 35 years , I was in Thailand about 30 years ago and sharing a room with a kiwi bloke and discovered he had a shit load of dope hidden in our room , if he had been busted I would have gone down with him , and they have the death penalty in Thailand , as it happened I did my block and gave him a couple of smacks for putting me at such risk (I have never been a drug user , opps yes had a chooff when I was 15 that made me spew up) any way I fucked of and left him in Kata Thailand . when I saw him again in Australia I asked what he did he do with the drugs he had in our room , he said he flushed it but I doubt he did . My point is I would have got busted with him and faced the death penalty , would I have appealed and appealed yes I would have
