Buckle down and be safe people. I have been through a few cyclones and they can be a bit nasty. Hope all goes well.
All the best Colin Hay

all good
All good, everything taken care off up here. Except the bloody bottleshops that are closed this morning. :( Everything else is open, but not the boozo's. Only got half a bottle and a few stubbs left, looks like the mates are gonna have to do some sharing.

Unnelievable
That is the most vital ingredient for sitting out a cyclone.

I see it could bypass you
The latest BOM track suggests that it may glance past Exmouth. Could make it interesting south of there if it does.

Yep
She's getting freaky out there now, only 95kms to town. My first proper red alert, exciting and scary at the same time!
Anyone feel like going for a fish in the marina?

Colour change
Adam, I could always launch from Beadon Creek and meet you half way over the gulf at the colour change. We could then troll along it.:)

I'm hoping too for your sake. You'll definately have a slow trip out there with this swell, but when theres lures out the back, who's in a hurry!

That was good news
You will see some radical things. I remember when Orson hit Dampier and I went out the back of the house in the lee of the wind and there all of these giant grashoppers hanging on to our palm trees.
And some of Hamersley Iron's tugs were snapped off there massive mooring chains, but the local paper was still lying on the front lawn and hadn't moved an inch.
There will be some great beachcombing after it goes. You can find some amazing shells and stuff.
They are scary but they are amazing.

your right colin .its a few years back now.i think it was steve that flooded out the ashburton river 20km wide in some places .some 6months later i was contracting livind on wyloo station camped about a km from the actual river .you could look 10 to 20 metres up the river gums and see all sorts of thing caught up in the branches .from car tyres to a 30kg gas bottle
i wonder what those big bush chooks that are every where around exxie think of all the wind
just looked at the track map .looks like coral bays in for a rough evening
always in it just the depth that varies

Bush Chooks
I have seen some of those along the Plenty Highway in outback NT. Never found their eggs though.
Wouldn't want to be staying at the Overlander if the tracking is right. It is right on the tracking line.

Flogging
Yep, copping a bit of a flogging at the moment, couple of the squalls are gettting the trees nicely horizontal. Been close to losing power a couple of times, hopefully it stays on to keep the updates flowing.
Would say Coral Bay is going to get a real work out tonight if it keeps slowly moving towards land.

Pretty bloody windy at the moment as the tail is still passing by. Off the red alert now atleast. Just lost TV reception about 15 mins ago but the powers still on so thats a bonus. All in all, just really stoked it wasnt cat 4 as predicted earlier.

Good to hear all is well
I guess you still had the ABC radio and the cricket to listen to. It is a memorable experience going through a cyclone. Happily it doesn't have appeared to have done much damage.

Nup, bugger all
Just a few branches off trees down and a bit of rubbish around. Going to go for a drive around now to check things out and see how bad the gulf is. Thankfully!
