Binningup to Broome

Gday guys, here are a few pics of a 3 week family holiday we just arrived home from. I drove up by myself in my 1988 hj61 Landcruiser, and flew the family in to Broome 5 days later. We had 4 nights at Cape Leveque, 5 in Broome, 2 at Eco Beach, 1 at Pt Samson, and finally 3 in Coral Bay. At Leveque every morning was spent at the island (over the spring low tide) with the kids swimming and me hooking trevelley and Long Tom every couple of casts until all my chrome twisty lures were gone...

i am having trouble uploading more photos - but here are a few...

Solid solo drive mate. No dramas with the trusty old Landy?

Stevo81, the drive was brilliant! I allowed 5 days to have a day spearing at Karratha, and to allow time if anything did go wrong - which it did! Before I even got to the Harvey turnoff, the alternator shat itself.... I thought it was a battery, however testing in Gero confirmed it... there were none available in Gero for 2 days, so it is lucky that I have the best parents in the world and my Dad found one at Cockburn Repco and drove from Mandurah to Jurien (I headed 200km south) for me to swap it over!! A 4am start Sat morning, and I made Coronation beach absolutely buggered at 7:30pm that night.... the car performed brilliantly from then on! We did over 7000km for a cost of about $1300 in diesel, and it used about 1L of oil. Not bad for a car that now has 517000 on it!!! I spent $950 on a new denso air conditioning compressor the week before we left which was the best $$$ I have ever spent!!!

for the family to travel, I like to do the same, drive up north with the wife and kids, then send them home on the plane whilst taking a few days to get home. I still have a family holiday, but know I will get the boat out over a couple of days on the way home. Solid effort in the Landy!
