Just seeking some feedback around concrete pool renos ( strip plaster back/resurface duraquartz or similair /new tile band and coping) ...

Had a few quotes so know its an expensive exercise...its a 60,000 lt pool .. so any recommendations /advice from anyone who have had theirs done would be welcomed.

 Did mine myself, used

Tue, 2016-03-08 16:47

Did mine myself, used luxapool epoxy paint, came up great. Needs to be redone every 10-12 years. Also did the edging, Bbc hardware in madding ton supplied glue that was suitable for the coping.

cost me around $1000 for the paint and $1500 for the coping, had quotes at the time for $4500 to paint and $2800 to supply and fit edging so saved a fair bit.

I had the replaster and tile

Tue, 2016-03-08 17:09

I had the replaster and tile surrounds done.

I used restora pool, they were good but a few short cuts caused me a few headaches, they had no idea of the issues when they did the job so not really their fault. My biggest issue was that the whole job was not sponged when they fisnished, except the top edge and the stairs. They said if I scrubbed it occasionally all of the plaster skin would come off, 6 odd years later and most of it is still there, not that it looks bad or that you can tell.

I did all of the prep work myself and got someone in to do the sandblasting.

If I had my time over I would have modified the pool from 80,000 litres to about 20,000 litres and got some of my backyard back.

Am in process of doing retaining etc and paving / putting up a African thatch hut so its all turning out to be bigger than ben hur now.

Its 10m x 4 m x2.2 deep ( and with me being 2m tall I love it)... am on cnr block and as its out front size doesn't bother me, would just be lawn anyhow so pool piss easy to look after v garden and lawn.

I was looking to replaster it in the quartz plaster , get tile line redone ,coping etc .Pools around 35 years old, still in half decent nick but does need resto. They pretty much strip it back to bare concrete so its a new pool at the end of it.

But Clogwogs tidy up seems more wallet friendly at this point of time. How long ago did you do it mate and hows paint standing up ?

Vinnie I got 2 quotes.

Vinnie at least you wont need to empty it !

Mon, 2016-03-14 07:36

At the end of the day they strip it right back so I doubt the cost is going to be any different. Am reckoning mine could be a bit bigger too .

Mines never been emptied so who knows what's it like when it is...right now there's a layer of silt in the bottom from cutting limestone blocks with quick cut for retaining walls so yours is probably cleaner ....

To save you from taking leaves etc out, I have a spit and motor, just need to find a lamb or pig !!
