Greg had trouble holding this up for a quick photo before releasing. The video has been posted in that section if you want to check it out. Easily over 100 lb.

Matt check out the video and tell us what you reckon. We think we have the sizes pretty close to the mark. They called it for a 50 kilo fish and I reckon they are pretty close. I put 45 plus in the clip and threw some Groper in as a guide. It was very fat.

Those shallow water fish sure
Those shallow water fish sure go hard. We get some great sessions over here on them. Too bad if you get them out of water over 8m they all die otherwise I would chase them more often.
BTW, keeping a Jewie like that is quite sustainable. That fish is probably only 7 or 8 years old. Much faster growing than a Fingermark or Red Emperor that at 10 kgs is likely over 30 years old.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Thanks all. I wasn't actually there but have fished that spot many times now. It was north of Weipa and those trees are mangroves on the shallow side of the creek. It was caught in less than 10 metres of water and swam off pretty well which was good to see. We've caught some big oens there before that really struggled. They really need to get rid of the 120 max limit as these big fish usually struggle after capture no matter what you do.
There is no 120 max on the East coast.
