Blackwood River/ Augusta

I'm thinking about heading down to camp for a couple of nights next month and fish from the Alexandria bridge down to the inlet.
Just after some info on what this time of the year is like as we are usually down there after Xmas when the inlet is full of whiting. Is it too early for crabs?
What can we expect to catch and what sort of gear will we need to get them.
Chers Mike

I would expect
From what i've heard the Blackwood has been pretty quite recently which isn't that surprising considering the freshwater flush its had over the last few weeks.
I'd be waiting till at least October before it comes good again
Bloody wet down here at the moment. Not hard to get bogged just driving around work (vineyards)

Rivermouth
The cut by the Colour Patch is flowing into the sea - first time I've seen that happen since the cut was made a few years ago. The River should get a decent salt water flush and clean up some of the algae that has been getting worse very year. Fish hard to find there at the moment though.
