When using bait clips than we suggest using Tuna heads as they are very robust which means big crabs and blowies cant destroy them. Plus there is stacks of oil in them which attracts the crabs round. Otherwise if using cages or wallets then Mullet and spleen is the go!
I've always used lamb necks, always done well using them. Can workout a little more expensive than other baits but the convenience is worth the extra couple $$... Just go to your butcher, iga, or Coles to get them... Normally works out about $1.10 ish each.
Like Lamb necks, Tuna heads on clips. Chicken necks, mulies/mullet/other fish, spleen in cages.
I have recently tried lamb necks on clips combines with the softer baits in cages. The softer baits attract them, and the lamb necks keep them in the net as they chew. Seem to work.
However over the weekend pots sucked and scooping was the way to go.
We use lamb necks. just a word of caution - someone has suggested cat food and tinned tuna.... I think you'll find that's illegal. wouldn't be using anything canned....
Always used chicken frames .Blowies won't eat chicken, crab love to pick on the frames.Copper wire onto net and refreeze when finished trip and keep for next trip.
I went tonight and caught a massive blue manna and just unlucky not to get more because the bait was ripped out of clips and even a cage! The secret bait was the cheapest cut of meat from the IGA or places like that. It is good because it's usually the tuffest piece of meat. I put lots of power into ripping one piece of meat in half so it's blowie proof aswell. It also catches big crabs

Spleen is available at BCF
Spleen is available at BCF (when they actually have bait in their freezers). Most of the butchers will sell it to you as well.

Mulies, you need to replace them a bit, even in the bait packets they will destroy them, but they will out crab anything else.
