I'm sure
there will be a reason for it but surely you/we can afford an extra 70c a week?

Id hazard a guess Matt that
Id hazard a guess Matt that your financial situation and Robertas are very different, unless your a pensioner?

Matt
we're pensioners and we get concessions on our, power, water, rates, car rego's but not boat or trailer. All these price increasings are hurting a lot of pensioners. We are a bit better off than some, putting up $7,000 worth of solar panels as our house in Leeman is all electric and we run 2 big a/c's for winter/summer. Unfortuately a lot of pensioners don't have a good super fund that they can dip into like us, even though we are still in the threshold for asset test for the pension, we' very lucky we own everything, worked hard to do though.
70c+ do add up when some pensioners live week to week on their old age pension. Plan for the future you young ones, geezes I sound lke my ruddy mother hahahaha

Railway line
He.s going to need every cent he can lay his thieving hands on now that the federal govt has said its not going to fund his light rail plans and we are the poor bastards who have to foot the bill.

Agree
Carnarvonite, I bet Colon knew that the Feds if Libs get in wouldn't fund the light rail, another false promise he's made. Ellenbrook still waiting on a rail line and that was promised over 4yrs ago in Colons first 4yrs, never happened.

Hmmm I wonder how many voted
Hmmm I wonder how many voted for Liberal here. Both sides of Federal gov won't fund the railway so that's a faux pas on his part. No foreshore development, footy stadium (Kitchener park what a joke),and proper country representation (nationals) with labour. Owning a boat is a luxury Rob not a necessecity. I don't like any increases as much as the next person. The way I see it the fees would've gone up under either gov.

New rego for this year. To think so many years ago (1982) it was $42 for 12months now nearly $180 per year and increasing each year. No concessions for pensioners.

Got ours yesterday, gone up from $170.00 to $174.80, for 6.25m. Pretty fair when compared to other increases.

Some get thier money
Far to easy, yes Matt,it may only be 0.70 cents a week, and that is not a lot of money to many people,But ,to a great many older people, that is another cost they have on top of all the other increases. And I will support anyone who feels that an increase in any state goverment charges are vile,What has the state goverment done for recreational boat trailer fishermen in the past 15 years,Introduced the RBF license, increased the fisheries fee's,road tax on fuel (federal goverment) so to get a boat to the water to enjoy fishing costs more in both the car & the boat,The cost of serviceing motors,up this is not the fault of the service mechanic but every thing else has gone up so must their costs.
Are there any more Marinas in Perth,Yes Cockborn,RockingHam A new launch ramp at Coral Bay,but No new Marinas suitable for the trailer boat person,Hillarys is overcrowded on the weekends due to the massive increase in boats,They put in new Pens thier for the affluent of our community.but Not a dame thing for the trailer person
Yes Matt,I think you are right to berrate Roberta & her husband, after all they are possible old and worn out having worked in this once great Australia, getting married, raising a family, paying taxes,No Hand outs from the goverment for child care,or housing assistance. No $3 or $5000.bonus for having a child,no,they, and a great many other of these older Aussies who are now on pensions and must watch every penny they get should just pay up to the over paid pollies ,so that the over paid younger generation who do nothing but put thier hands out for more.can critizice them when they object to more bloody taxes and costs

Diver thank you
We are both 65yrs young and yes we never had any help raising our kids.
Unfortunately with this so called mining boom a lot of people that are on massive wages working in the mines don't feel increases small increases in taxes, eletricity, rego, transfer fees etc like some Pensioners do. As I said earlier we're quite well set up for our older years, good super and unfortunately for me a good inheritance when my late mother died.
I could have been wrong in the increase but was going on the cursing of somebody in the kitchen when he got his rego for the boat, &^%$ was all I heard and the increase, will look at it myself.
MattMiller, wasn't having a dig mate, just some pensioners feel 70+ increases here and there.
We would have had $10,000 more in our bank account when we sold our home in Spearwood, to buy this house in Leeman, the State Government took that bloody Land Tax that had been paid previously on this house we bought, bloody double dipping but neither side in the State Elections said they'd get rid of.
Rant over ladies and gents.

Are you serious
Roberta, I am having some difficulty understanding what you are complaining about, you admit you have a good super, got a very good inheritance and are doing quite well. You obviously own a boat and your own home, must have a car, do have a computer and I bet lots of good fishing gear.
If you can afford all of these things take time to think of those guys who can only fish form the shore, or cant afford fishing gear at all. If you can afford to have the boat and all the trimmings you can afford the increase in rego.
I am sure you will respond by saying you have worked hard for everything you have, (including the inheritance) and this may be true, but I can assure you there is no mining boom and those huge wages you talk about are incorrect, having worked in the mining industry for 37 years this is one of the flattest times the industry has been in for years, and lets not forget, if you are earning the money you are paying the tax.
Enjoy your retirement and if you were not so well off you would probably qualifty to get Pensioner discounts.

I'm not writing my gribs for me and old fart, is the pensioners that just can't absorb all these increases, please remember there are worse off people than us on the pension or even working on the lowest wages. Thanks for your reply thought. But as you know everything seems to be going up when will it stop. Yes we are better off than some pensioners but still qualitfy for all discounts RE: the Pension. Yes we are enjoying our retirement ruddy well SKI'ing (been retired early for 10yrs & qualified for the pension @64yrs and a half, baby boomers)

Not Alone
You are not alone there, Roberta, some of us are worse off and the extra they put on the licence fee does have to come from somewhere
