Anyone know if there is currently a size limit on Bronze whalers, and if so can you provide a link with the limit shown.
Thanks

Yeah or if they are 2 big
Yeah or if they are 2 big they taste like Shit. I have read that they were thinking of making the limit 1.5m a couple of years ago.
A 130kg bronzie was caught up at jurien last week and the angler kept it... WASTE OF TIME

Maybe...
Quote: Exactly what I said to the angler, though he is adament that if you hang the fish for 24hrs and bleed it properly it's just as good.
Maybe he had eaten one the same size the previous week -

Sixe Limits for Whaler Sharks
Maximum Size Limit For Whaler Sharks
Page 8 of http://www.fish.wa.gov.au/docs/pub/WestLimits/westcoast_rules_2007.pdf
The Minister for Fisheries has approved the introduction of a maximum size for whaler sharks. Whalers live for well over 30 years, mature at 16 years or older and have only a few pups every second year.
The maximum size of 70cm will be measured from the front of the large dorsal fin to the back of the small (rear) dorsal fin. This equates to a shark about 1.8m total length, 10 years old and 30 kilograms in weight.
Sharks older than this often also have high concentrations of mercury in their flesh.
There's a diagram in that link.
No minimum size limit.

You wouldn't of thought they needed protection from the amount that showed up everywhere I fished in Port Headland a couple of weeks back.

Unfortunately some whaler
Unfortunately some whaler species are getting hammered - and most people cant tell the difference between species - sure they are whalers - but they could be one of the 20 or so species that is still common.
