Broome boaties loose a much needed boat ramp

State Gov has canned the much needed Brome boat ramp as of 19 December. Silly thing to do as it has got to be the worst example of a boat ramp in wa. It has about 40 metres of ramp leaving you about 500 metres between the ramp and your boat at low tide. My mates there are fuming over that decision.

Yep understand your frustration

This decision going to hurt Broome as I for one will not come to the place with no place to safely launch and retrieve my boat. Broome is a great place, however as I'm getting on in age a bit I no longer see the funny side of busting my guts trying to retrieve my boat and a few mates I travel with feel the same way.
To tourist businesses, my condolences and I hope you can get the chair sniffer to change his mind.

Swap

We have a new one here in Carnarvon you can have cheap or swap . You only have to look at the carpark to see where the locals launch their boats on a good day, the old ramp has 30+ vehicles while the new one has 2-3 and those are usually out of towners.
The whole thing was designed by someone with no idea, sitting behind a desk some 1000km away and never owned or launched a boat in their lives. Initial cost estimates were around $1 mil including the carpark finished up at over $3 million, the mind boggles.

Old ramp

I've seen some sights at the old ramp, I used to live in Carnarvon. I distinctly remember pulling up to the ramp to a lovely local lady ( sarcasm) with her dress hiked up, pissing on the jetty while laughing at the shocked looks on mine and my old boss's face. Ahhh, memories.

I miss the islands dearly to.
