Broome sails
Had a second crack at sailfishing on Tuesday after raising 4 fish, hooking and losing 2 last week! The weather was great and after a bumpy ride down to Barred creek we were in the water with teaser and baits in the water, It wasnt long and we had a sail smacking our teaser about 6 times before taking the bait! The first fish just swam slowly towards the boat but then realised it was hooked and put on a great aerial display within 10 metres from the boat, after a short fight we realised the fish was tail wrapped so it was brought on board for some quick snaps and then swam for a while and released safely.
We were pretty pumped after catching our first sail but things went pretty quiet for a few hours, there were plenty of mackies to keep us busy but no sails. We spotted a school of tuna in the distance so we started heading towards them, until I turned around to see another sail hitting my bait! This one put on a spectacular fight in the air and under the water, again everything stayed connected and we had 2 sailfish catches for the day! This was my best fishing day of my life and something I never thought possible especially from my little tinny!

Tides are a bit big now for sails but all looks good for the comp there's heaps around close to home so won't have to travel too far and with no moon next week they should be biting well during the day. All we need now is bait.

launch
Hi Mark this time we put in off the beach near Coconut wells because of the bigger tides, there was a bit of soft stuff but if you stay close to the water it was ok. This would have been ok if it didnt get so rough in the arvo and take us over an hour to get back!
Last 2 times have lauched in the creek, at the mouth is good to put in but it is a bit harder to get too. Down the back of the creek is easier to get too but have to make sure there is enough water, your boat would be fine during the neaps.

Very easy to break a bill if
Very easy to break a bill if once leadered you don't grab the bill right down at the mouth of the fish, they usually thrash about a fair bit. Wear good gloves and try and get your hand right over the mouth ,they won't hurt you as they have no teeth. Same with releasing them swim them beside the boat until they start biting on your hand firmly thengently push them away from the side of the boat.
Marky the tides will be building but you should be right till about the 9th or 10th. we will be out there in the comp trying to stay sober enough to see the fish
