Cameras on the Swan

Not before time I reckon, the behaviour of a good 25% of skippers up around Guildford and Bassendean is nothing short of disgraceful and on a public holiday there are ripped up reeds and mud from the banks all throughout the water. I was initially concerned that it would lead to reduced patrols in the upper Swan until I remembered that on the 30 or so 2-4 sessions I had on the dinghy up there I've never seen them once.

About time

Thu, 2015-11-26 10:51

I was up by Blackwall Reach at the weekend and a 30fter came roaring in doing between 15 - 20 kts amongst the moorings by The Coombes, full of party goers. This is an 8 kt zone. I see quite a lot of boats doing way above the speed limit along that stretch.

Yep seen that myself. My jaw was down near my casting deck and was praying to the river gods someone would come off onto one of the hundreds of underwater snags throughout that section of river

I just hope

I just hope they put some up river and not just around the city etc.
Last year saw some very shit boaties skiing and speeding all the time.
One boat was a massive centre console, with 2 x 300hp doing 30+ knots past all the kids swimming at Sandy Beach. This was easy an 8m boat with the stereo blaring and pissed crew on board. Wish I got him on the gopro, would have sent the footage in for sure.
