Been down around there the other day, mate had one get off at his feet on a soft plastic. Wasnt huge but still fun. Just wondering how you managed to walk along the stretch of river from the highway back to town as ive looked a few times and its pretty thick bush and grass along there, looks pretty snaky? is there a track or you just walked throuh it? And thanks for the update.

hey fellas
i dunno about using lures for them...i think it will get pretty expensive with me losing them haha. cos they like to hang around snags and logs and stuff dont they? or are they out in the open water and along the grassy edge too?
but if im not going to use lures, what sort of bait do you think i should use? i was thinking just a small ball sinker free above a small hook.. that work?

If your thinking of trying bait just get some worms, the bigger ones seem to work best but any will do as long as you can get them on a hook. And yes they like to hang in around the snags but i have caught them out in open water before as well and along the grassy edge. Another way to use soft plastic lures and not get snagged i have found is to just find a log or some sort of cever near the bank of the river and just drop the plastic down next to it and jig it quite often get fish that way...

redfin are pretty voracious
redfin are pretty voracious eaters and will take almost anything, its basically why theyre considered a pest. the spinning celta style lures work well and u can get them quite cheaply. most tackle shops have a bargain bin too full of soft plastics and other stuff that u could use.
my dad and brother reckon they spent two days in pemberton using worms and caught nothing at all, when we went back with lures we caught heaps. in my experience they arent particularly 'dirty' fighters and ive never been wrapped around snags etc.
guess what im tryna say is dont be afraid to use lures, its heaps more fun, u can cover alot of ground quicker and u catch more aswell

Redfin IMO is very tasty.
Fillet and butter, a little salt and you would swear it taste like the highly rated KGW. Beats trout hands down IMO. And you can catch a freezer full, call fisheries and they will pat you on the back.
