Chasing swords

Anyone been chasing any swords up and down the coast?

Reccys over east seem to being doing pretty good on them. They put in alot of bloody hours though

Pretty amazing fish.

I know a couple charters up north (whitey at kalbarri) have been having a crack and a couple boys down south have got onto a few.

good size one caught of

good size one caught of Bremer bay this month,
about 5 years ago we tried at night a few times off the trench, lumo lights, concrete weights to take the bait down with a light leader to snap on hook up. All the gear no idea - caught nothing but that's fishing :-)
Pretty interesting sitting out that far at night, one night was a glass off and we turned on the underwater stern lights - amazing what small fish/squid live near the surface that far out!

Yep. There are a few of us from PGFC giving it a crack.

Plenty of water out there though.

Concentrating on day dropping for them rather than night fishing

The ultimate fishing challenge for me.

Always hoping to pick one up deep dropping.

One day...

Little John was talking about giving it a go, thinking about doing a deep drop during the day, and swords at night. Been looking at the rigs and weights they use... bit to it, not the same as just deep dropping. Will need to look into it a lot more I think.

Swords at night is a whole different setup.

Your not fishing the bottom but chasing them when they follow bait to the surface layers.

Set up for swords at night is not too hard, biggest killer in WA is the weather.
