Christened the new boat
Had a new bubs recently, so sold the motorbikes and the trusty little dory to upgrade to a safer more family friendly boat. Id been lucky to decky for burra a few times so with the weather looking decent today I thought Id return the favour on her maiden voyage. We headed out from Ocean reef before sunup to fish behind 3 mile, was quiet going early on but managed to find some bait, it wasnt long before the fish were on. Mack tuna was first fish landed, followed by a couple of sambos, undersized dhus and a couple of goat fish. Lost a couple of decent sized units due to my albright knots letting go, not happy. Moved spots when it got quiet and came a across a school a pinks. Caught a couple of undersized fish before we landed a 53, 59 and 65. Headed in just after lunch, was a good first outting, still need more practice launching and retrieving the bigger boat but overall very happy with the new fishing platform.

Knots? BTW Nice boat
couple of decent sized units due to my albright knots letting go, not happy. Try the FG knot, plenty of how to videos out there. I used allbrights, modified allbrights and a variation called the tangle knot for many years, went over to the FG for tying leader to braid before we went to Ningaloo this year, not a single failure. Saw a show where they were comparing some common knots for tying leader to braid, FG killed em all breaking at 110% of braid rating. So it was actually the braid breaking, not the knot letting go. Nothing worse than having an avoidable failure costing you good fish.

Nice work mate, not a bad
Nice work mate, not a bad maiden voyage. We headed out from Hillary's yesterday and got some bread and butter fish, skippy and quite a few undersized demersals but the conditions were very strange in close

Sorry if I'm wrong but are those snapper undersize. The fish gauge you have in the pic States pink snapper are to be 500mm and those are a lot smaller. ?????
shut up and fish
