just bought a new Lowrance chirp 9 - used it once and noticed these marks on it, tried cleaning it off with a damp cloth but no luck. Before i test anything else on it what do people use to get rid of marks on their screens?.
It is def not sunscreen as only put it in last weekend!
sorry for the bad photo - can see the marks at the bottom right and top left
cheers

you can also buy screen protection films for your sounder/plotters.

I bought a pack of 3 for my HDS 7 in my dinghy, and I've still got the same on my screen for 2+ years now.

hence why I bought screen protectors for my units, you have to be very careful when cleaning the screens plotter sounders, as they often have an anti-glare coating on the screens, which scratches very easily.

I found this out the hard way, with my Furuno FCV 620 when they first came out. I noticed a few small scratches on the screen, that seemed to buff out with a little bit of pressure and a microfiber cloth. before you know it, I had copmpletely buffed off the anti glare/polarizing film off the screen!

the screen from then on, was a sonovabitch to view in full sunlight!!

Yeah, I ended up cleaning my FCV587 with ammonia and microfibre cloth the "clean" off the scratched antiglare.

I actually thought the screen was easier to read without it except in full sunlight.
