Coral Bay advice
Hi Guys Im after advice for fishing from my boat around coral bay. I know its a bad time of year due to wind but Im taking the mrs and kids there for a holiday for 7 nights mid to late Jan anyhow and didnt want to leave the boat behind, fingers crossed I jag a day without wind. Im after advice on some places to start looking/sounding around keeping in mind I might have limited time before the wind does pick up each day so the earlier I can get into some fish the better. Will be heading out of north passage in my 6.1m tub. Any advice on ground would be much appreciated not asking for co-ords on anyones favourite lumps ect would just like to pick up a couple of reds for the trip to chuck in the freezer after the 16hour treck up there. Cheers fellas. Anyone in coral bay from the 17th - 24th of Jan stop by and say hi and have a beer.

if you head out south passage
if you head out south passage WSW til it drops off over 80 meters then work along the top south of there.
Troll out there with sounder on and you'll see stuff on the way
Remember no lumps outside a couple of miles from reef, just looking for schools.
Bottom lock is your friend if you have it on your sounder up there!
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Just make sure you know how
Just make sure you know how to use your sounder and have a good look around, there is stuff everywhere. We find new stuff every day. You will have to travel about 5 miles out to get anything except sweetlip and spangos. As Rob said the 80m area good area to start and look for actual schools of fish, not too much in the way of structure up here. Also a lot of the spots are very small so not too much point drifting around waiting, line up the spot drift over it and then do it agian. Not sure how many trips we will get around that time but if you see us down the tables come say hi.

Thanks
I'm also heading up to Coral Bay in a few months for my very first in my new boat which I finally pick up at the end of this month. I'm a virgin to boating on Perth waters so any further advice would be very much appreciated and happy to shout some beers for any advice received. Thanks for the info so far and to Hambo for the post. Let me know how you go when you get back.
