Coral Bay Report - Day 1

Arrived here at 3.30 pm after a very smooth and economical run up. So for all those JEEP owners, all I can say is Yes !!! Average travel speed 100kph pulling 3.5 tonne, 15.3 litres to the 100 Km's - very happy

However on arrival, a major downer. A mate who is already here had his boat cleaned out by some stealing scumbags. They got all his rods, reels including Stella's and electrics, lures and even took leader and line. They even took his Navionics card out of his GPS. Farken unbelievable. Silly of him I know, to leave gear in the boat but seriously. Cops not really interested but believe that it's a local.

So, be warned, if you are coming to Coral Bay, secure your gear inside your accommodation. All I have left in the boat are sinkers.

hopefully the next report will have fish in it.

Not good

Sat, 2015-07-25 17:28

Being a regular to coral bay, not good to hear this.

was it locked up in his boat or just in an open deck? Shit either way and hopefully it turns up or you hear of it in the next couple of days. It's a very small town so someone knows something! They will make some good burley!!

hope the luck changes and you get into some good fish.

I'd believe that looking at some of the people who live and work there. Nothing is sacred anymore...

Sun, 2015-07-26 08:43

I have a lot of mates that live and work in CB that would be very offended by your comment.

So you're saying it's locals. How do you know this? How do you know it wasn't one of our Perth crew that done this?

If this is what you think, then best you go to some were else for your fishing trips hey

Post actually says cops think it's a local, maybe give your mates a call perhaps if they hear something they might be able to help out.

Ask the pub

Sat, 2015-07-25 18:57

Ask the owners of the pub if you can put a notice up, tell them that this sort of thing can have a real bad down side for trade coming to the area if people get to know the area is not safe because of the thieving going on.

Put as many notices up as you can in shop windows hopefully the locals will rally to the cause and "shop" the maggot who did it so the town doesn't get a bad reputation.

The reward for giving info leading to a conviction is the town has demonstrated it won't tolerate this crap going on.

That's about as low as it gets.

On the plus side, looks like you have some premo weather heading your way next week!

Can't believe they stole the card out of the GPS as well

Sat, 2015-07-25 21:08

to me that sounds more like some punks rolling through town and grabbing what they could before leaving town. They probli caught f/all due to having no ground so thought they would steal someone else's GPS marks instead.

Lets hope at the least carma catches up with them and their car breaks down on the way home to wherever they are travelling and they are stranded on the side of the road with plenty of time to think about their actions. But it would be better if they were caught by locals and given some rough justice

Yep, just need to assume the world is full of pricks, leave nothing out anywhere. Hard lesson to learn on your holiday though.

I'll sign off here and start

Sun, 2015-07-26 19:12

I'll sign off here and start putting up posts in the reports section. Needless to say, everyone is watching like hawks now. I notice that boats are not being left in the parking area but being brought up close to accommodation. I think if anyone catches these pricks then it will be fairly ugly.

However the message is there, empty your boat of gear

cheers

What a Shame

Thu, 2015-08-27 06:54

Coral Bay is such a lovely productive place to spend time fishing and it is scumbags like this that destroy it. I was there on our annual trip to Coral Bay 18 months ago and there was a thief stealing GPS & Sounders from boats in the Caravan Park amongst other things in the town so this year we installed remote alarms in our boats to alert us to any such activity and apart from a couple of false alarms during the night (Probably cats or birds) we survived the trip intact with all gear accounted for.

The alarms are cheap insurance approx $16.00 each. Links below:

One type detects movement in the boat and sounds the alarm at the boat, quite loud and can be heard from inside your accomodation.

The other has a remote alarm with the motion detector installed in the boat and the remote alarm is inside your accomodation. Both work extremely well and give peace of mind during the night when the scumbags are on the prowl.
