Couple of Dhus and A Cray Today

Took me mate out today as the weather was bloody fantastic. Credit to him aswell, he flew in last night on the last plane fronm Barrow and was at my house 4am. Got to the ramp and forgot ice at the petrol, No worries i say, I will be back! Well as I left the carpark at Pt Kennedy the diesel has a cough and a splutter. OOPS! Out of diesel! So push the car into back into a trailer bay and sent the wife a lovely morning text. Oh yes she was impressed! WTF!!! was the first 3 leeters of the text, followed by not happy. ( Might get a belting when i get home). Haha.

Anyway we sat at the ramp for an hour catching yakkas and hezzas for fresh bait, headed off at 6am and checked my pots Sth of Coventry. 1 cray. Sat the Swiftyt on 22knots all the way to a mark in the 50's and started fishing. Ended up being slow for us with plenty of fish on the sounder but not really that interested. A few other boats left and  I get a 60cm Dhu. Moved around and found another bit of ground, 1st drop and the THUMP on the end my rod said Bigh Dhu!. Farken rookie mistake I ended up playing it a little and it buried me in its cave. A good 5 mins of give and take and out it comes, but Twang!!! goes the bloody line connected to the hooks. Rig come up a fully scuffed mess. Oh well another day for that one. Moved again and found a  bit of ground rising from 40 metres to 25mteres. I I kept moving all around the area so I have a good idea of the area. My mate pulled a 60cm Dhu and an equally sized Harlequin. Again plenty of showings on the sounder but nothing serious. Had to leave to get home for the kids.

26knots on the way in and 3 mile west off Coventrys theres this Big Yellow Bouy drifting. Reported it to Freo Sea Rescue and they asked me to tow it in. I gave it a crack but I wasn't risking my boat and motor pulling this big heap of flotsum. Called them back and they rang me on my phone to get its co-ords and let the Water police deal with it. Start cruising again and just on FFB I see some more driftwood ahead, I would hate for anyone to of hit this. 2 big planks nailed and screwed together, both pieces 1800mmx200x50mm. Would've made a mess of a fibreglass hull. Probably weighs 20kgs. I have that at my house now.

All in all a good day out with 2 dhus and a harley.
