Crabbing Busso. Jetty
Submitted by Howard George on Sat, 2011-06-18 21:25
Went crabbing on the jetty tonight with my son Sat.18 a bit quiet with a lot of weed in the water and the guys out the end weren't catching any fish either so it's just one of those nights. The reason why I'm making this post is that I use Tuna heads in the crab nets my son swears by herring and others were using spleen. None of us caught much but what is your preferred bait?

just Murky Harro.
We usually catch crabs whether the water is clear or not but what i did notice tonight was that the water i cooked the crabs in was full of muck when I tipped it out so maybe there's a bit of sediment floating around.

Fair Go MattMiller
Not a lot of people around tonight so it really doesn't matter but yes Matt. and what I've done is got Rec. Fishing licenses for my grandies so we can have 7 x 4 if I take them fishing all at the same time. Cool hey.

Lost in translation
not having a go mate, just reminding people who may not be aware of local rules that are outside of fisheries legislation.
I've already raised this crap with the shire and got the usual response of, we do what we want. Tossers.
Not sure what you mean by not many people around so it doesn't matter or Rec. Fishing Licences though

New local rules.
You'r just like me Matt. when I read the new fishing Regulations on the jetty like 2 rods per person so I had a meeting with the Shire President for clarification and it's just the same as fishing restrictions set out by fisheries . Only 2 lines being used at any one time but you can carry as many lines as you wish. The crab net restrictions on the jetty have been in place for years and the RFL'S is to do with bag limits.

Crabbing Busso
i use mullet, but it must be cut from the gills to the tail or in fillets i think it puts so much more smell out there ,thats just what i do !!!
i have fished down that way a bit {lots} and i have found a good swell or north wester to work a treat for the crabs down there even off the jetty

what i use the last time in
what i use the last time in WA, was any fish heads but left out in the sun for a whole day before using it in the night. most crabs are scavenger and they will hunt for rotten or decompose fishes or any form of meat

funny things fisho using for
funny things fisho using for crabbing (in asia)
1. chicken parts (discard from butchery)
2. fish waste after fillets
3. coconut flesh
i normally see ppl using just whatever they can lay their hands on, they will used it
Top choice for me:
1. string ray (as they are tough and hard to tear or consume by the crab, last longer)
2. chicken feet or head (zero cost from butchery)
