Hello bussogirl
I would be a little conserned if they were my pots. They may walk [ float ] with only one ballast in them. Give them a day or more under the sprinkler.

Cray Pot Design
bussogirl,
Just a suggestion; the ballast needs to be as close to the bridle/yoke as possible to lessen the possibility of the pot "walking"; the swell/waves lift the floats up and down thus causing the bridle/yoke end of the pot to lift and down also and drag the pot along the bottom; and as suggested more ballast would be better, especially because the pots are so small.
Hope this suggestion helps a little, good luck with your cray catching.

well , if your going down south , when you put them in they will sink and seem ok , however imo the first decent swell & they will move like buggery
id strongly recommend you wack another fish plate in the bottom , and bolt it in with two bolts , don't use cable ties etc or the weights will come loose and your pot will be gone , either washed into the beach/rocks or smashed and jammed under ledges /reef etc
potting between the capes you need heavy cray pots to handle the swell ,
if you put them at peppy, you would get away with less weight in them as they are
as they are you will get crays while the swell is down , but first big lift in swell and id bet you will have issues & possibly lose them
good luck hezzy

theres plenty about , put
theres plenty about , put your pots in at least 10 metres on the west side of any lumps, as others have said , bait em up full as you can ,
id recommend to stay away from any surf break areas, or areas where it will break ,
also be sure not to set them across or close to any navigation pathways ,where other boaties coming in or out might not see them and run them over ,
good luck
