He will soon realise that his time getting to the ramp, getting out to the pot, diving on the pot, getting back to the ramp and then getting home to only wash all of his gear is worth more than $30. He will be short lived....

$50 a dive!
Wow
I dive on pots frequently for mates. I am just happy for a day out on a boat and the opportunity for a dive.
I usually free the pot and dive the area the pot was in
Cheers and Good Luck with that

just curious how this
just curious how this works...you said you need 3 stuck pots to dive. (3 differnet licence holders?) Who's boat do you take and do the other licence holders have to go on the "other" guys boat ? (guess they legally have to) If we take my boat out are the others going to chip in for fuel or what to "unstick their pots" ?
be pretty unusual to have 3 "of my" pots stuck.

Would still do it as I do
Would still do it as I do here around my closer ramps, would just staggger the times i would meet everyoine at the ramp and then go out in eachs boat. The only reason I say minimum 3 at two rocks as its a long way to go just for one pot.

Cartel
Perhaps a cartel needs to be setup and in the event of undercutting or cheaper labour protection monies racketeering and so forths.
Im happy to dive and free pots for free. Recently however a member on here kindly gave me money after i freed and found one of their pots. I have felt the pain in losing many a item both on land and in what seems as the blue ether/hungry big blue bin.
Pots arent cheap either and also easy to get stuck. At the end of the day if the agreement suits the parties then thats their agreement. But in saying that if you need a pot freed and even floated to the surface ill do it for free. if you want to drop me off ona lump then that's a bonus

Pissed off potters
Most potters spend all there time worrying if someone is pulling, steeling or diving on there pots, the new scrounge could be entrepreneurs jamming them under ledges for an easy $50

sounds like a winner
I dive just about every day off the northern suburbs and are alway's having people come up and ask me if I could free there stuck pot. Last time i did it was about 10 years ago the guy gave me lots of thankyou's but never offered me any beer or even a cray out of the pot so that was the last time i did that
Don't worry about all the knockers as i think you are offering a great service for a good price,
oh by the way it is $8 just to have a tank filled at Hillary's dive shop cheers ACE

Wow man... that's a real shit bloke!
Anyway onto the thread, blokes offering a service & posted his price. If you don't like it fine but don't knock it! Good luck to him, he is taking the danger after all otherwise you would be over the side sorting it

shame you had a negative
shame you had a negative experience when you unstuck a pot.
If someone dived on one of mine (that I didn't pay) they would be welcome to spend as long as they wanted diving to get their own crays (would give any crays in stuck pot.....but of course that is illegal so couldn't do that ;)
and would buy a few beers afterwards.
Some constructive critism of OP. (mean this well and believe it's a good service but )
$50 I think is fine if the diver fits in with my schedule. but to be perfectly honest if I have to pay $50 ....then get put on a waiting list..... then told a time and day to be at ramp. I'm getting someone else to help if I can.
oh by the way an $8 fill should be enough the unstick 10 pots in 15m.
:)

I always work in with the guys whos pot it is and what time suits him. I was diving at a little after 430am the other week as that is what best suited him. As I have said previously it is only two Rocks where I am not able to just at the drop of the hat get up there as it is just under a 2 hr round trip for me, Hillarys through to Mindarie though I am more then flexible with times etc

Convenience
If I had mates that would dive on the pot I would ask them. Simple fact is that he offers a service which will suit some people. If you ask me it is cheap in dollar terms.

Carton
Used to cost a carton of cans or what crays were in the pot, all agreed to before the diver hit the water.
Still at todays prices for someone who can't dive $50 is quite reasonable
A lot of the time if you poke your head underwater with goggles on you can see which way to pull the pot to free it and save yourself some coin.

I believe you can, The fisheries officers I have ever come across are not too bothered as long as the amount of crays equals out to the amount of licenses on the boat. I could be wrong though

Technically you cant. If they want to be anal they can nab you. Its the old "actively fishing" part. Bit like taking your two year old to pull pots and take two quotas. But seriously does it matter?

+1
for Sphere, as he said, dived my pot free but I donated $50 (TO A CHARITY OF HIS CHOICE) out of good will. I have never witnessed anyone diving so I was very appreciative of that he gave his time away from his life to free my pot.
Offer still stands mate, you want a dive, I take you there.

Commercial arrangement
c,mon shark1 give him a break he's just offering a good service for a bit of pocket money. If going by your rules half the people on here advertising on the buy/sell forum could be classed as commercial sellers.
If people don't like what he's doing don't use him, simple as that.

There are rules/regulations
Scuba Diving/Freediving are classified as very dangerous activities...(Dont believe me? just contact any insurance company and have a chat with them), Un-sticking pots is even more dangerous, I dive my own if needed (1 so far this season for about 70 WRL) If you were to take on a commercial deal with a non licensed diver and someone gets hurt or killed, you are in big shit

$50 to recover $250 pot
$50 to recover $250 pot sounds good to me. My dive gear was $3500+ service+ tank fills and sharks are something to think about.
More drum lines, kill the bloody sharks!
