cray report

We dived 30m today the place we videoed all the dhuies and crays .We could see the bottom as soon as we hit the water conditions were unreal .The first thing we noticed was the lake of fish I mean not one dhuies off any size the only fish were wrasse. Then after 15minutes of checking we noticed no cray three females in egg. I was amazed at where all the fish and cray have gone I thought this would hold some of the smaller dhuies all the time as like a nursery. But no even the smallest of fish had moved on .Jumbo crays you would think would live in there cave most of the year gone .Left me scratching my head. We surfaced with 80 bar left in the bottles so dropped in on the shallow stuff on the way home still 20m . The water was not as clear as out wide but there was a few cray 10 for 10minutes in the water no bad.

Sun, 2010-11-21 06:32

nice catch Paul, we didn't find any ledges like that instead had to scratch around in the rough stuff to find ours the other day. If you're heading outn next week let me know, I'm keen but the weather might only allow a real quick dash.
What transducer did you get and is it for the Lowrance or Furuno?

nice one paul.  We managed

Sat, 2010-11-20 21:34

nice one paul.  We managed 10 aswell in close - bout 10-12m.  Seen a load of shells though all the crays we found were in numbers of 1-2, scattered amongst the reef.

How'd you find them - I'm assuming to get 10 in 10mins they were all nested up together?

Sun, 2010-11-21 09:42

Paul you did a whole lot better than me i did a shore dive yesterday for zero crays and that is a first at that spot ever my favourite ledge had a wobbie in it and 2 crays but the wobbie didnt let me near them. i did how ever see a ray nearly as big as me that was amazing that close in. good to see you are still getting into them

A good feed

Sun, 2010-11-21 11:18

Nothing like a quick dive to save the pride. Good effort. I'm sure you were pulling your hair out once you realized they had all moved from the first spot. Darn Mother Nature.
