Craypot Theft.

 Hi guys and gals,

Just wondering if many others are having there pots pulled and stolen lately.

In the last 2 months we have had 5 pots stolen. 3 were brand new pots, All from

out on the 5 fathom bank. all up pots , ropes , floats , ballast , baits soon add up

and im about a grand down. Not sure if anything can be done, we have been on

to Fisheries but dont really think they can really be everywhere. Maybe there too

busy shark fishing.  its damn annoying.

Cheers

Engrave your driver's licence number on the pots where ever you can to make it easier to ID them if later located is about the only thing I can think of.

other than that unfortunately its a chance you take. - plenty of mongrels about..

Property theft

Mon, 2014-03-10 16:08

 Hi Paul,

There is only one way of recovering stolen pots other than someone witnessing the theft and reporting it. That is a

GPS TRACKER. Specifically one internationally rated IP68 waterproof. This means it will stand the vibration, knocking, wind and water constantly. The only ones available for this purpose are commercial in nature, large and expensive and easily noticed by the thieves and cut from the pots. We have adapted one with the very high IP68 rating for this exact purpose.

They are hidden in the float inside a reflector and work on the GPS/GSM NETWORK, SO VIA YOUR MOBILE PHONE. Easy to use cheap compared to replacing pota all the time. Plus the police get to pick up these bottom feeders and send them to jail.
