Darwin - Million Dollar Fish

G'day all

Myself and my Dad have signed up for the NT Million Dollar fishing competition. Having never been to Darwin before thought I'd see if anyone here knows a thing or two. We are heading up at end of October - anyone recommend accommodation Darwin central? mum is coming up too so we need a 2 bedroom apartment, is it best to stay in Darwin CBD, out of town etc? We are planning on 3 days of fishing, 2 for Barra and 1 ocean going for reef fish. Any recommendations on fishing charters? Don't want to go with 12 others on a boat prefer small.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

You are booking things a bit late..... get onto Mike from "Fish the NT"

He can sort out charter options  if he is still doing it....

Good onya mate, gotta be in

Good onya mate, gotta be in it to win it, you'll have a great trip too, most of the operators run 6m vessels so 4 people is about standard, be warned they are not cheap at $600 to $800 per person per day, you may have some issues accessing some areas depending on the wet (you are there on the buildup) but it is a well renowned time of year for big saltwater girls. I fished with Darren's Barra safaris a few years ago and they were good.

I was up there in May and went out with Angler's Choice Fishing Safari's at Dundee beach for a couple of days (same as you didn't want to go on a party boat), They do a hotel transfer if required. only had two others on board both days and price was very reasonable.

We stayed at the Palms City Resort which was central and good - not sure on their room setups

see link below for you tube clip of the fishing. - only regret - not taking the fly rod

A local tells me the million

A local tells me the million dollar fish is in Darwin Harbour.  Makes sense to put it there, and not single out one specific river...

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what they were saying on the TV ads up there as well.
