Dawesville Cut

I'm after some tips re fishing at Dawesville Cut and Woodman Point. I was there most of last night, fishing off the rock wall to the west side and didn't get even a nibble. The tide was coming in the whole time I was there. On my way back to Perth I tried Woodman Point and it was no better.

I'm fairly new to fishing but not a complete rookie. Have caught dhuies and salmon in the past few months, but now chasing snapper, mulloway and taylor. I generally use paternoster rigs with squid or scalies, occasionally mullet. I've also done alright with slide baiting and soft lures, but my preference is to use fresh bait.

I check out the forecasts incl. barometric pressure. I thought with a low pressure system coming through last night would be a lot of bites in the Dawesville Cut? The swell didn't seem too big, but I'm not an expert about that.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

I've fished the Cut landbased

I've fished the Cut landbased a lot (usually hezza, KGW and skippy but also caught squid, salmon, tailor, YFW) and still love doing it even though I have a boat now. One day I'll clean up and then go back the following day at the same time in the exact same, conditions, tides, weather etc and not even get a bite. It is a mysterious beast. One thing to keep in mind is that it can take up to 2.5 hours for the current in the Cut to go slack after the tide change.

One constant with the Cut that I've found over the years is that if the water is dirty you are almost always wasting your time.

Just don't do what some

Just don't do what some cocksmoker was doing a few weeks ago. He was chucking out a livey and leaving it unattended letting the current take it across the other 5 people trying to fish further down from him off the rockwall. Luckily his line mysteriously got cut and his livey dissappeared.
