Dawesville Cut Today
Submitted by Auslobster on Fri, 2009-06-12 19:05
Headed down there this arvo and landed three salmon trout ranging between 43 and 46cm...lost three others due to light gauge jighead hooks straightening out, and had another half a dozen "follows". They came on as soon as the tide started going out, and there were that many herring around I was jagging one about every second or third cast. So if anyone's in the area and are after a nice feed and/or tremendous light tackle fun, well that's a good place to go!

Eastern End...
...on the northern side. There are usually a bunch of fat skippy hanging around there which are pretty quick to go the softies as well, but didn't see any this time around, although one of my lost fish never really showed itself and could've been one.

Had some fun with the bigger brothers today :)
The herring were thick as, litterally landed about 200 if not more, one a cast all day
I must say that is a very sexy reel lol,

Ive never fished down at the cut, but i'm heading there this morning.
Don't really know the area down there at all, so ill be a bit of a fish out of water...
Good to see the salmon still firing up, hopefully i can find a decent spot and catch a couple.

Love it down there!
Was just down there about 3 weeks ago but I was out in a boat about 3 mile out, and the Pinky's down there are sensational, and big! We landed our first Pinky in about 5 minutes of the first cast, and thought it was going to be all on, but it took us about another 3 hours until we hooked another 63 cm Pinky, but between waiting for that we hooked about 7 Skippy, great fun!

Fun on light tackle
That's a nice way to spend the arvo Aus, that salmon is nice and plump sure woulda been fun on the light gear.

Time Warp!
Thread was started six months ago, so if you've been down there recently and didn't catch anything don't feel too bad!
Did catch a couple of 33-37cm tailor there two weeks ago, also in the arvo, as well as a 39cm skippy...tailor should be really firing by now and it's best to use a hard-bodied minnow like a smilin jacks, rapala, or laser pro 'cause the blowies will shred everything else apart from metals (which have not been particularly effective for me)
